Went door knocking with JD in an old east TN town. We hunted 1 turn of the century home in a town dating to late 1700s and some civil war history.

Turned out great! My best TN hunt by far! I started with a wheat then got a 1949 Rosie, silver 42 on the year. Kept swinging and picked up another wheat. Was swinging near the front garden when I got a signal just above nickel at 4 inches. Was hoping for a V Nick, but instead had a fatty gold ring, #4 on year, in hole. It looked silverish in the bright sun so I ran it over the ATP coil and got solid 55...encouraging. Cleaned it right off and it was yellowish. Stamped "Solid Gold" with large capital H on inside. Nice! Kept swinging and picked up a few more wheats, then got another mid 50s tone and pulled a 1945P war nickel for silver # 43 on the year.

Then I got a choppy signal bouncing around at about 5"....button...eagle...gilt, dirty. Was thinking civil war and was not surprised when I cleaned it...Calvary Coat Button!!! Woo hoo!!!!!

Also got a button that has a radial engined plane kind of like the one Lindbergh flew...anyone have info on that one?

JD found a handful
Of wheats, a token and a 1907 IHC in that yard plus a few nice relics. I have found 3 of my 4 gold rings while hunting with JD...he quit passing mid tones now, lol.

I gave the gold ring to the home owner when we left because he made it clear he wanted to split the finds.

We headed to Maryville and did another door knock to end the day. I walked 5 feet from the truck ground balanced swung once and pulled a Memorial
Penny. Took a step swung once and dug the heaviest best piece of Sterling silverware I've ever dug...Towle Sterling fork. Absolutely beautiful!!!!

Then dug a large foreign coin. Turned out to be a Chinese cash coin from Hu-Peh Province, 1897-1913!

What a hunt! Gold, big Sterling, silvers, Civil War Calvary Button and Cash Coin!!!!

Thanks Kenny. My best TN hunt by far.

Congrats on a great hunt. A little of everything. That fork is very nice.

Thanks Jerry. That fork is stunning in person and heavy!

Dude, that fork is spectacular! I think I'd rather have that than the ring. You had a great hunt. Congrats and HH!

Thanks Olds! I can't complain about that hunt. Eased the back pain. I over did it today.

Wow, some Sterling and a big gold ring to go along with your other nice finds. Great hunt, congrats!

Thanks Jam! Got to keep from hurting myself before I see the surgeon, but I'm addicted...and an idiot.

So I've got some strange attraction to this fork. It's from their "Old colonial" line and they maybe one of the most attractive designs I've seen as far as sterling silverware goes. My girl stopped me from buying a salad fork set on eBay...

Thanks for letting me know the pattern. Looks like worth as much as the gold ring.

Yeah, hard to tell the exact size from the pic, but it looks like the salad fork, which goes for $280 as a to order piece. The dinner fork goes for a little more. Crazy that you can still get these made, but with a design as beautiful as this one, I guess it's not surprising that they still make them. The really crazy thing is that someone would lose one in the yard!

Thanks Matmit. All my previous Cash coins have been much older. This one was a real surprise. Yours is really cool with the crossed flags.
