Was demolishing an old house at work . Its been an office building since the 60's but before that a regular house. In the 80's one of the owners of our company bought it and based his excavating company out of it until he merged with us in '98. Then it was just rented to random business.
Thier building a new office building in it place so Friday I knocked it down with an excavator and loaded it out into dump trucks. I was told it was probably built in the 30's but since it had the original slate roof and clay square tile foundation blocks I figured it was older.
Today we had to remove the last wall by hand because its attached to a cinder block building that was added on in the 70's. So being able to take the wall slower we were able to see what was down in the was. We first found an old ink jar from a fountain pen (didn't get a picture) under the frame where the back door was. We found an old glass flask one the second floor wall near the floor. 2 marbles on the second floor area as well. At least I think they are. On the bottom floor wall at the floor plate was the coolest find. An old 5th grader's spelling notebook from 1913!!. Quite well preserved. The hand writing is UNBELIEVABLE!. His name and school is on the back cover. Talk about being taken back in time.
