Finally got a chance to deploy my SiteSensors in my tot lots today. I have felt someone else is hunting my favorite tot lots and wanted to find out. I took a nice shiny penny and buried it in the most obvious spot in my tot lots. Like right in front of a slide, or in the middle beneath the monkey bars, a spot any detectorists will check. Now when I go back to hunt I can start by checking each planted coin and see if it has been removed. Too deep for one of the kids to stumble upon, but shallow enough to be an easy find.

Noe I'll give it a week and see what happens. If the coins are missing and I know someone else is hunting the sites, I can plant some more SiteSensors and go back each night until they are gone to find out what day they are hitting the sites, and hit the the day before LOL.

How about seeding it with blasting caps ? When their scoop hits them they will get a blinding shower of sand and smoke to the face. Also hide a trail camera somewhere so you can watch from the comfort of your own home.

Thanks for the pennies:lol:

CP,

What are you going to do if you find the guy that's been hunting your sites? Give him a stern look? :D What if it turns out to be a hot lady? lol

I don't mind someone else hunting the tot lots, they have just as much right as I do, but I would like to know so I can make my hunts better. Sounds odd, but I don't hunt so much for the goods as for the fun of the hunt. I've found so much stuff over the years finding something good is just icing on the cake. That said, I would prefer to find some keepers, and knowing when my best time to hunt is will help. That and I'd like to meet them. In all my years of hunting dodge I've met maybe 3 other detectorsists, and they we all from out of town but the buddy I've hunted with for nearly 40 years. I have some valuable information I'd love to pass on.

I have a feeling who it could be. I met a guy in the city park swinging an ACE 400 I believe, who told me he lived in Dodge and has been metal detecting there for 2 years. I had never seen him out. He said he mainly hunted the front of schools. He said he had never found anything in the park but a wheat or two. LOL. He freaked when I started telling him just a few of the coins found there.
