I am saving up for a good beach detector mainly for salt water wet sand and dry sand. Unless people recommend something else, I think I want to get the Sovereign GT... I know it's not water proof, but I don't want to go in the water anyway.

Which do you think I should get?

Thanks :)

I vote for the GT. One of the best beach machines out there. Also has a very wide assortment of accessories available for it. GL and HH. Matt

CZ21 has a faster sweep speed, faster response (good in trashy areas), and is a silent search machine.

Sovereign seems to have slightly better depth (big coil on mine probably helps...), better target ID, and is a threshold based machine.

It all depends how wet you want to get. Also consider hunting in the rain and heading to the beach during storms. Both detectors are great. The Sovereign is more versatile because of the ability to change coils and headphones. I would not be able to pick a winner because of the waterproof CZ. They both have a place in a beach hunter's arsenal.

ok I think I am going to go with the sovereign, but crumble commented that it had good target ID, how can it have that without an LCD?

Also I understand its a threshhold machine, but what does silent search do?

Thanks :)

Get the Sov gt and use the finds to finance a CZ21. Sov gt is easy to waterproof if you ever want to get it wet in the shallows.

that's an Excalibur not a Sovereign :P

From the sound (threshold which changes the pitch like the tone-ID) and the delay in metal locating they are the same.
This vid lets hear you the difference in sound between the CZ 21 and the ML GT/EXC.:p
