CTX 3030 programs

Great post, so many people ask me what program I am running, All of these mentioned are and look like great options. My advice to you all is dont give up an learn your machine. I owned on the the first 3030's to come out and now own 2 units. Both of mine act little different but produce the same results. My ears, my soil and my hunting style might not work for you as the programs I use are tailored to my liking. Best advice is if you think a PROGRAM is all you need your wrong, insight to the machine how to change and maneuver around your settings and tailoring it to your ears is what is the key to the success. NO one program will work in all conditions...just not possible.

Can't wait for the weekend, calling for 50 degree temps for tomorrow. I've learned a bit more, been finding deep coins what little time I have after work. I think there is a place for ground coin, haven't messed with low trash, high trash much, like to see everything falling in conjunction with the 12 line. I dug a Canadian quarter, A 2004 remember souvenir , been stripping it with soy sauce. Was just seeing what was reading in the 33's at 2- 3"and dug it. will have a photo update when I get a camera up and running. I am ecstatic from what I have been finding when using this CTX. Will be watching Minelab website to see what they are releasing later this spring.

Ground coin,,,for higher level soil minerals.

Ferrous number will come in a lot higher likely vs ferrous coin.

You can see the difference with sensitivity between Auto and Man from the diagram below (all things being equal).

Jackalope, This chart may be the biggest "AHA" moment I have had since owning my ETRAC and CTX. Thank you!

Jackalope, follow up question... in your air test to build the auto vs. Man sensitivity chart, what was the auto and suggested sensitivity reading? And does the chart follow a linear pattern as the suggested sensitivity moves? This is a fascinating test!

I had a great warm day today. Ground coin works in dirt laden with iron. Dimes chime in through the mess but were often being finally detected through the sides of the hole. Several multiple targets simultaneously appearing within nanoseconds of the previous target was a bit overwhelming but the repeatable high pitch didn't lie. I jumped to a program with bottom blocked out and the iron sounded off up at very top lines of window, TTF High trash program worked among others. Open windows with very little to no discrimination was the order of the day, using various selections to figure out the different modes I ran sensitivity at 25 most of the day.Three silvers today, including my first ever silver quarter. I had a pit bull grab my pro pointer and leave a tooth mark in it. Apparently, it was looking for a game of tug of war. It startled me at first but she was super friendly. The owner was apologizing profusely . I got a new to me camera, charged battery up after finding a charger locally and it works ! I need a usb cord and memory stick for it, have them on the way with two extra battery packs and a another charger, since not knowing whether the camera worked or not, I held off buying the other stuff. I don't think the sensitivity maxed helped for deep targets. Everything was found 6-9 " range, The quarter was closer to 5", just a matter of getting a solid repeatable signal amongst the trash.Maybe I'll run a discriminating pattern and be able to crawl a little faster. Going to try a 4 tone ferrous program, ,leaving the 12 line to a designated tone. The possibilities are endless. The trash that I am digging is deeper targets.10-12" range and it is just that, trash, nothing good displayed in a different number.

Today I dug a 1903 Indianhead and a 1928 wheat back. and another old Canadian penny,a horde of newer clad. I had thought I had another Indianhead but was just the maple leaf points on the old Canadian penny. For non change items,I dug a 14k ring and two old pressed penny tokens.Another warm day for metal detecting.

The pressed penny token has swords crossed across the front with 1863 and then it has Gettysburg National military park on the back. The other isn't a pressed penny token like I originally thought. It's older, can see some gold gilding on some of the copper. I've been removing the patina but it was so caked on, I still haven't been able to remove it all but you can see its not a pressed penny token ,its stamped copper with fancy outlines showing on the bare spots from the lifted patina. I'm still in awe that I found a silver quarter, it was my goal for this year. My silver quarter was a standing liberty, love the flying eagle on the back. I don't think I would have found that with another machine as It was heavily masked, literally dug iron rust flakes out of the ground all around it, looks like an old can from the part that was still intact. I'm finding a ton of nickels,Indian heads and deep silver dimes,I think someone already hunted it prior to my start of metal detecting but maybe not.

Looks like you are taking to the CTX like a duck to water!

It has been a lot of fun so far. I have tomorrow off but it is snowing like a banshee at this moment. The Gettysburg pressed penny token.

I got out today for the first time in a while. It was rough digging as first couple of inches are frozen solid. I chose another day to dig the iffy signal stuff, there will be better days for that, than today. Oldest coin was a 1965 quarter. Dug 2 Canadians, a nickel and a penny. All in all, I am happy, I wasn't looking to spend the whole day out there, the weather just isn't going to cooperate for the time being. I think I am finally over the flu, felt good to be out there today despite the cold wet conditions.

I agree with Jason as well. You gotta find what works for you: your type of hunting in your area.

However, I'm guessing the OP wanted us to post our preferred programs for the sake of discussion or for anyone who just wants to try them out?

Attached below is my go-to program for hunting in heavy iron.

Its actually a combination of two of my favorite programs. Trashy Park and Tadpole. I call it Dirty Frog. The idea behind it is to get pretty much all US coins and most medium to large jewelry. Fairly open pattern to help prevent masking. I usually run this with ferrous-coin, but if running high trash separation, I would lower the bottom tone break down a few notches.

It will knock out most of the annoying small iron in the bottom righthand corner so that the target ID isn't so jumpy. It also knocks out everything on the back side of nickels. You will miss some tiny rings or other small jewelry, but the trade off is that it gets rid of most small foil and other junk items. Even though the right hand side of the nickel notch is open, you'll still be able to ID nickels by the tone due to the way the bins are set up. Different tones for nickels, indians through wheats, and then the highest tone for silvers or clad dimes and quarters.

Using Ferrous-Coin separation, the machine tries to push good targets toward the 12 line, but I leave the upper right side open so that I will still get large silvers if I decide to switch to High Trash.

Settings are:
Mode: Combined
Separation: Ferrous-Coin
Response: Normal
Fast: ON
Deep: OFF
Seawater: OFF

Thanks for sharing the program!

The other nickel is toasted but it is a 1934.DSC02653.JPG

Last summer I pulled one with no date out that was still silver coming out of the ground ? Now I'm thinking it had to have been a recent drop but the place was an abandoned farm house. It only had traces of red iron in the coins detail but basically clean as a whistle for the most part ?
