I have a coil for my detector that the outside coating of the coil wire has cracked/deteriorated due to age, is there anyway to fix it other than electrical tape. It doesn't effect the performance but I don't like the looks of the cracks in it. Thanks

Shrink tubing, if you could get the correct dimension tubing and get it over the connector. Great to use as a strain relief at tight turns and at connectors/fittings, high wear, water intrusion areas.

You could also use the stuff called Dip-It. The liquid rubber coating you would dip plier or wrench handle in for better grip. Stays flexible, and it would get in the crack for better protection.
