My 1st big score was an eyeball cash spill. I was 15 getting off the school bus and cutting through another school and neighborhood about a quarter mile to my house. On the curb was a wad of cash wrapped with a rubberband. Immediately stuffed it in my pocket. When I got home , in my room , I counted it. It was $1836 , which was alot of $ for a 15 yr old kid in the 70s. A little more recently , on my way to a job , early morning as I'm exiting the freeway , I spot a small safe. Locked my truck up and put it in the back. Won't go into the details but when I cut it open it was incredible. So those are my best eyeball "finds" ever.

KOB your post reminds me of something that happened to me when I was 11 or 12. We lived across the street the street from the only bank in town. While I was walking home I spotted an envelope in the snow. Opened it up and it was full of cash. It was the night deposit from our only grocery store (A&P) in town. Gave it to my Dad who worked at the bank and we were both instant heros. Got to pick anything I wanted from the store for some time. They even gave me my first job.

In 2012 I was lucky enough to find a large cache with hundreds of mostly big silver coins and 23 gold coins. In my 36 years of detecting that's the only cache I've ever found. It was a good one though! I've found several nice coin spills over the years.

Here's some pictures. Poor quality from an older camera phone but you get the idea.

That's not a cache, that's buried treasure, was it in a chest?

No, it was originally buried in jars and then spread out by a bulldozer. You can see the full story along with updates posted throughout this thread:

THE craziest thing I’ve seen yet from a forum member for sure. Finding any kind of spill or cache bigger than a few Mercs would be excitement beyond belief!
