I am only in MT part time now. Was in Butte for 8-9yrs. But didn't detect then. On a 3yr contract job now in CA (few if any good jobs in MT unfortunately) and in Europe a few months a year too. I have a small ranch over by deer lodge I plan come back to in 3yrs full time. Would gladly meet up sometime when I am up there before then. No shortage of areas to detect. Though like everywhere all the easy places to get to have had a coil over them. but still plenty of targets around. And you can hike any hillside an find old ranching and mining places that could be virgin ground. I plan to go out after relics mostly when I get back up there full time.

Pretty good chance I will be moving there by this summer. Helena region. I will make sure to look you up if we move. I have made a lot of MD friends in Kansas, so this move is going to be really hard.

I am sort of starting out, I have bought a lot of books and have read up on detecting, but have not done much field work. When was you planning to move to Deer Lodge?

I am back to the DL a few times a year. Full time won't be for another 2-3yrs unfortunately. I will drop you a PM if you want to meet up sometime

I am originally from Butte, born and raised, but now live in Idaho. I go up every chance I get, it is a 3 hour drive now so PM me ahead of time when you are there...as a side bar, I was driving through DL last Spring and they had the whole Main Street tore up as well as the sidewalks...I was salivating without a detector. Lord only knows what was reburied again.
