Odd Question; Does anyone use something different than the typical belt, finds pouch and digger set up? I use a military grade belt with a Gray Ghost catch pouch, a small nylon bag for trash and a leather sheath for my hand digger.
At 64 years of age I have no hips and no butt anymore so as I walk the belt slides down. If I tighten the belt, this will hold everything in place better but when I kneel down it’s extremely uncomfortable.
So my question is does anyone use something that maybe goes across your body or some sort of belt with suspenders. I don't want to use a backpack that I’ll have to take off every time I dig a hole. I can't be the only "older" guy with this issue lol.
Thanks

My main job both in the SeaBees and in civilian life when I was starting out was as a power lineman. Climbing belts became a love hate relationship. You needed the belt to keep you alive or at least from getting hurt, but using a climbing/linesman belt could be problematic. For the most part they were binding and didn't allow the movement you needed. enter the line belt support harness, or gut strap This was a game changer for me. You still wear your regular climbing belt, but the gut strap made it more of a pleasure. Lack of better terms the harness was like a set of heavy duty suspenders that hooked on your belt and that is what kept the belt up where it was, and would be easier to use. Same could hold true to a detecting belt. It would stay up where it is both useable and comfortable. Won't slide down, and won't pinch. belt.jpg

I love the simplicity of a two pocket nail apron.

Extend the tie strings so you can tie it off in the front.
Clip a pinpointer leash on the string and keep it in the right pocket.

So light and simple. Great for the beach.

I use almost identical gear: an upgraded belt with the grey ghost pouch, but I HATE all the weight pushing down my trousers, so I purchased a tactical shoulder straps setup which I connected to the belt, and it works fantastic.

I use a US military cartridge belt and H style suspenders. Adjust the suspenders to take the weight on your shoulders so the belt doesn't ride directly on your hips, or in my case, where my hips used to be!!! 72. Available on Amazon or military surplus stores.

Matt...this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I'll look on line for this. Thank you

Thank you for responding. I knew that there had to be more of us with this issue lol. I looked on Amazon and found exactly what I was looking for. This will work perfectly with my setup. Thank you again.

FalconBob, you suffer from N.A.D. Unfortunately, No Ass Disease is a common affliction for guys our age. I used to have one but somehow I lost it when I got into my 50s.

Happy I could help. You may need to play with the adjustments some to get it like you want.

I have a relic elite pouch which has a built in wide belt. Pouch would get so full and pull my pants down  got tired of that real fast. So I punched 2 holes and put brass grommets on each side, and bought a should belt with padding off Amazon, which goes across my chest. Holds the pouch in place well.

Should have read "shoulder strap with padding off Amazon".... can't edit that post to correct it.

I actually have 2 of these. Use for detecting and hunting small game. I bought off of Amazon not fleabay.
Disclaimer. Doesn’t come with strap.
I put strap on mine. D rings and other loops to hook strap with connecting ends on strap.
I don’t take this off when I am digging.
Carries pinpointer, finds, even soda pop.
I carry over neck and shoulder.

I have a rig from a guy in Quitman Tx but he has since quit making them. It's the best setup I've found in 13 years. It has a finds pouch with a small pocket on the front that I put my loupe in, and 2 mesh pockets inside that hold my pinpointer, toothbrushes, and hemostats. The belt has a velcro liner and the pouch loop has the hook side of velcro so once you poition the pouch it stays put. There's also a trash pouch with mesh bottom to allow dirt to fall out, and I have added a gear pouch for camera gear and in the summer I also have a water bottle pouch. I love this rig, it's extremely comfortable and does not bother my back on a long hunt (I average 4 hours but have gone as long as 6 a few times).

:cool3:

Robby,

Thanks for the video about your rig. I also use a T-handle shovel. Do you ever hang your shovel from that belt rig? If so, how? If not, do you just carry it? That's what I do now: detector in left arm, shovel in right hand, digger/pinpointer/etc. on belt.

Thanks.
