American Digger was renewed for season 2

Awesome! Maybe more people will watch and I will get told "NO" more often because they think that I will bring in a dozer and dynamite, tear up their yard and run off with millions in gold that the Egyptians berried when battling the Eskimos for control over the Ohio valley.

Wow I didnt know this, I live in the Ohio valley.

Count me in too. If it wasn't for that show I would never had bought my At Pro and tried Md'in. I always wanted to but never tried before this year.

Everyone I talk to about Md'in is very positive and no one has ever even mentioned the show or it's poor representation toward MD'ers in general.
I'm sure many people see past the shows many faults and take it for what it's worth. Most people realize TV is not reality. If you don't like it, change the channel!

I never watched the show, seeing clips, photos, and trailers for that show was bad enough. oh the description of the show was pretty bad too. I saw clips of the idiot( yes I think hes an idiot) I saw clips of their bulldozer tearing up a yard for a coin. I have seen fake prices, and loads more stuff. I don't have to watch the show if they have clips out there! Just please don't use a bulldozer on somebody's yard. lol

Since your on here, you probably won't, but I'm just saying. I am probably one of the few on here, that sends 30 msgs a day to spike tv about that show. I am also I think sorta well known on here, so you will probably see similar posts on here about that show, and about how I am protective on the hobby. Take a look at one of my threads, I complain, and complain and fuss about different things related to the hobby. couple months ago I was socked in the face, for trying to tell a guy that he can't be digging huge holes, at a park in a nearby city. I had to fill them back in. I have never experienced that till American Digger was introduced.

But hey do what you want, watch it. I'm not trying to tell you to stop watching it. I'm just letting you know that the show sucks in my opinion. And i'm just letting you know that things in my area has changed since the show came on the air, and getting socked was one of the changes.

But issues like what i'm experiencing doesn't matter. To 100% of everybody these days, its the reality tv shows that is clogging our brains, that matters. God I hate the 21st century. Filled with people that doesn't give a !!!! about anybody, filled with people that doesn't report crimes, filled with people that is destroying our historic areas, with bulldozers and !!!!. Filled with nothing but entertainment. I will also fight before this hobby goes away. Oh !!!! I forgot Iphones, and ipads :O Oh Another thing is restrictions. I know an old man that has found tons of stuff in the 1950's and 1960's, from National parks, and other places that is now off limits to metal detecting. Thats another thing that bites. now i'm gonna stop fussing, before I get banned from this wonderful forum.

Sounds like a pretty bad show for the hobby, using a bulldozer etc to dig up finds is a bit overkill and heaps destructive, finding out the history of their bought finds and pull the show would have to get other's into Detecting would be it's only positives by the sounds of it, but it sounds like it shows bad detecting etiquette with how much damage they do to reach the finds.

We don't get the show over here, atleast not on free to air normal channels, could be on pay TV though.
Sorry to hear about the guy hitting ya because ya told him to not be so destructive, I dig big holes, but that's after digging around and under the grass a certain way so as I can fold it back out of the way to be folded back over after I'm done and have filled it back in again, kinda like digging out a plug and usually just as or nearly as neat.

Really? well thats good. You guys sound like you have a blessed country. Be proud that you guys don't get it.
Its okay, I did what i thought was right. The guy has been arrested ,and I was looking through the police criminal database He is still in jail today.

So the show brought you into the hobby? cool beans.

Not sure if you are referring this as a compliment or being a little sarcastic? (And before you think I'm jumping back at you, I'm not! Just going a little different direction for different thoughts) Either way, I'm into MDing and even thinking of updating to bigger and better models of detectors.

And reading some of your other posts I see that you are upset(nice terms used there) with the consequences that the show may have caused you. But you are not alone with just this hobby. My true hobby and addiction is deer and turkey hunting. (I have alot of time around run down, abandoned farms in a tree stand thinking what could be out there, hence the reason for me buying a detector)Flip over to any outdoor channel, newsstand, and sporting goods stores and you'll see what has happened with hunting in the last so many years. Pay me $1500 and you can MD(or deer hunt) my land for the chance at something big or pay $5000 and be guaranteed something. Its the way everything is going, I know it and I'm sure most people know it. Or soon, thats the way its going to be.

Heres an idea. You may be emailing Spike TV(I think thats the channel that carries it here)or your station, but watch the show and look at the detectors they are using. My guess is there is a sponsor pushing this show through. Contact them?

I'm not upset about people joining the hobby. I think its cool that people is getting into this hobby. A hobby is something you like doing, and I know thats what a hobby is. I'm not trying to prevent anybody from doing anything. I just wish that people wouldn't destroy land. I am also worried that future generations won't enjoy these historic artifacts and stuff, as much as we did, and past generations. I hope that won't end up that way, but in my opinion, if this show stays on the air for 5 years it will, and I can't stand that. I just can't stand people ruining lives, and hobby's. Pretty soon we won't be able to jog, or ride a bike. I just want this hobby to remain open, for years to come, kinda like it is now. And ooooo I will try and see who the sponsor of the show is. I know you don't know me, but i just wish you and everybody else on here knows how upset I am over stupid shows, and this show. I believe you are a responsible metal detector, judging by your posts, and I'm not trying to chew you out or anything I hope you know that.

P.S That was actually a compliment, and I hope you enjoy the thrill of finding neat things.
P.S.S Just because I hate the show doesn't mean I dislike the people that watches it. There is a few people on here that watches it and is still detecting responsibly. Meaning no pick axe's or bulldozers. So I haven't lost hope yet. I hunt with people sometimes. I'm actually glad that people is into the hobby, I just don't want to see somebody destroying a park that i have been detecting for 2 years. Thats what i'm trying to say. I'm worried that more and more areas will be destroyed \.

I probably repeated myself a few times, but it shouldn't matter.

Another thing, sorry for all the complaining Motts I have been told by a lot of people that I whine. I'm probably the only one on here that really really really hates the show.

Not a problem at all! Different minds and different ways to look at things is what makes forums like this great. I just wont take offense to anything from ya until you say you are going to come up here and wrap a metal detector around my head:lol:

The way I look at it is the show will encourage a bunch of spontaneous MD purchases and all of the folks that thought they were gonna get rich will quickly discover that just isn't the case and will be selling their detectors at rock-bottom prices!! Which means good deals for the rest of us!! I know most won't be top of the line models but will still make many good cheap back-ups!

I'm with ya. I like the show. It brought me more into the hobby of metal detecting. I always wanted to do it and after the show came out I decided to go all out and try it. And now I'm pretty much obssessed with it. Is it real? Probably staged, but that stuff they find is out there. And if it wasn't why are any of us doing this? Its a reality show, just like Swamp Hunters, Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush and so on. It puts a person in a what if predicament. Are they going to show someone MDing for a day and finding nails or tinfoil? Doubtful. I love watching WWE Monday night. Yeah, its staged but I like it. Its reality tv. Its the future of whats going to be on. If ya don't like it or think it causes harm to what you have done or you are doing now then don't watch it. Maybe all videos on here of someone finding something shouldn't be viewed either. It could be a staged find:shock:

Yes it is staged they say it at the beginning of the episode. If it brought you into the hobby I hope you are not digging with demolition equipment as well. I have watched it but I will say it is not as good as diggers. Diggers may have been staged to but at least they didn't bring heavy equipment into there dig sites and damage other peoples property. I saw one episode where they had the guys climb a tree with a chainsaw and then they cut down the tree before they asked the home owner. I did like the one where the cops were called and the home owner asked them to leave

He lives near me if anyone wants me to say hi for them :)

Don't actually know him but I know he lives nearby.

As for the show... I agree it makes it harder for us to get permission landowners see the show and think we are going to show up with a backhoe and a dump truck.

I do have access to a dozer, bobcat and backhoe but with the way fuel prices are, I don't think it would be wise to use them for MDing:lol:

I was excited about the show at first but after a few shows it was obvious they were staging it, especially the prices they were getting for junk. Then the motor city show where they dug up that old oil bath air cleaner, sorry but that thing couldn't have been in the ground more than a few days if that. Looked like it had just been removed from an old car.

Had a couple of my friends who's property I hunt on joke with me about their share of the find since this show came on. I usually come back with, "Tell you what, you pay me $20 an hr to hunt your property and I will let you have everything I find. ;) Then I show them my finds for the day.

I also think most of these reality shows stage a lot of scene's, obvious with the cameraman already in position. LOL.

Did you see the one where they found a cannon on the floor of some guys lake...the man who tied it off for the crane to drag out didnt know what it was....didnt know?....are you freakin kidding me..there is no way you could tie that thing off without scraping off about half the mud and would have been able to see everything.

Being hosted by an ex wrestler does scream FAKE

BUT

The end of the cannon was not filled with mud...good luck finding that...they are always corroded up or filled with deep south mud

You asked...
