Found it today at my aunts house. This is my first button bee detecting for a few years now and never had luck finding buttons. I think it’s a cool first!

That is utterly sweet. That is what this is all about. Totally awesome. Great sleuthing work on the ID !

Nice button! Are you finding other old relics there? Might be some more goodies waiting to be recovered. I hope you get some more!

Very nice find! I'm noticing the researched button has a few things that are different about it. Your button has 6 Cannon Balls, and the researched one shows 10. Also, yours shows almost an eliptical wheen, whereas the worthpoint one has a distinctly round wheel. Lastly it looks almost as if an arm is comming down at an angle from the cannon to the center hub of the wheel on yours. Maybe that's just the corrosion making it look like that though? Maybe there was an earlier or later button that is different from the one shown on Worthpoint?

edit: I'm guessing that button predates 1812 by up to 10years. Check out similar buttons for that time period. All of the ones with 10 Cannon Balls date from around 1812+, and the ones with 6 Balls are like 1802-08.
