I really don't understand this ground balancing nonsense. I have been doing this for a couple years and it doesn't make that much of a difference, and I don't buy what CD and TN are selling. I have used my Legend for a week now .......and have found really good DEEP stuff. I hunt with it and don't spend my time doing useless test videos.

Obviously you do not understand the purpose of ground balancing a detector
different grounds can affect a detectors performance for instance the ground I detect is highly mineralized, I do not know your situation but I do know my ground my ground if someone digs a target at 8 inches they are dam lucky, the mineral content of my ground just will not allow a detector to see much deeper, especially if your detector is unstable, that is where the ground balance feature comes in, the ground balancing basically takes the minerals out of play, talk to a detectorist that detects for gold nuggets, any of them that tells you they are not messing with Ground Balance and other settings to maintain a stable detector while detecting for gold nuggets are lying to you, there are other things that come in to play also but ground balancing is part of it
Head on out to Az, Nevada and other western states. You might be surprised.
Even down south of you in areas of Va.
Milder ground Equinox, Deus 2, and yes even the Legend GB not as critical. The why behind your success with Legend. Be careful though running default GB even in milder ground (ground with some mineralization, as you could be missing some deeper stuff.
I ain’t selling anything here or anywhere else btw.
Just sharing info.
You have a nice evening.
The area I live in is high in iron ore AND I do understand the purpose of ground balancing. What I am saying is there is not a lot of difference in most ground. And in highly mineralized ground it does not make that much of a difference. You just have to be able to understand your detector and pick out those good signals from the false ones. It can be done.

had a nice conversation on the phone with tnsharpshooter, trying to figure out some things with the ground balance
also spoke with Calabash on the phone prior to the conversation with tnsharpshooter both conversations were very pleasant
ran some test out in my yard in M1 and M2, I had completely over looked the new mineralization meter that was added with the 1.08 and 1.09 updates
I have been having some issues with trying to figure out what my ground balance values are doing and what I am seeing
my GB values run really high where I detect usually mid 80s to mid 90s
went out this morning and activated the mineralization meter for the first time performed a ground balance in M1 first then M2 second
Results of both test Park Mode
M1 GB value 89
M2
GB Value 55
Ground Mineral meter
M1 (Multi1) left side meter was pegged Right side of meter which is salt content 1-3 bars
M2 (Multi 2) mineral meter left side was same as M1 right side meter also the same as M1
Field mode all numbers and meters were the same as in Park mode
by those numbers my ground is extremely hot or mineralized, I also performed the same test in field mode multi 1 and multi 2 numbers came up the same and mineral meter was same readings
tnsharpshooter ask me to do some further testing which I will be doing in a few days, and posting up the results these test are not to tear the legend down at all but on the contrary I feel to give users a wide range of variables in ground conditions which I believe will help Nokta/Macro to make the legend the best it can be with updates
again I appreciate the conversations with Calabash and tnsharpshooter
In ground with high amounts of magnetite particles, ground balance is extremely crucial, so this statement "And in highly mineralized ground it does not make that much of a difference" is ludicrous. If a person runs an Equinox on default 0 ground balance in my area, every target will have an iron halo or even an iron response if it is a non-ferrous deeper target. Single frequency detectors that are not ground balanced here can sound like an ambulance when the coil approaches and leaves the ground and at the end of swings. So can other SMF detectors set on default ground balance. Its pretty hard to detect anything relatively deep if you can't hear the target responses due to all of the out of balance ground noise.......
Did you do ground grabs or tracking to get those numbers? Did you check the ground in pinpoint mode to make sure there were no targets?
I'm sure all this testing sure is a lot of work, and brainstorming..All it does for me tho is makes me want a Garrett at pro of Xterra 705,, simplicity at its best... I know technology has come along way,and before updatable machines manufacturers made sure they got it right before releasing it to the public... Anymore these companies, not just nokta either,, but these companies release these machines premature and have alot of updates to fix updates,etc..too much fuss imo
I couldn't agree more. It's a freaking joke. Like they only do 1 week of in house testing and 2 months of outside "testers" and then say "screw it". We gotta get it out there. And then everyone who buys a programmable machine are know the Guinea pigs. Having so many updates in a short period of time is pathetic. No excuse and an unprofessional scam. Some of these guys like TNNSS are actually good I think for them. That's all they do is test really. And my guess is get some form of compensation though they will deny it. But yes , simple is better. Who the heck wants to fiddle with a machine rather than being productive and hunting.I'm sure all this testing sure is a lot of work, and brainstorming..All it does for me tho is makes me want a Garrett at pro of Xterra 705,, simplicity at its best... Hotter even here today. Detector use will be limited looks like.
