hunting a creek with deep banks that floods

I am hunting a creek that has about 12 foot banks and floods almost every other year. It runs through an area where there was a major civil war battle, but not a national or regional battlefield.

I am looking for Civil War bullets.

on the curve in the bank, should I hunt the outside rim of the sand bar or the creek area apposite the sand bar formation for bullets.

I of course will hunt any of the bedrock formation cracks where ever i find them.
