Last Wednesday morning AirForceMike, Matmit and myself went over the "Brew City to hunt one of there old heavily hunted parks. We were all using CTX's with the big 17 inch coils.

Well today we all went back to repeat and prove the hunt was not a fluke. We were joined by PJ (I C THE LITE) and Randy Luna (rluna) and what a day we had. If my counts are right we took 14 Silver coins and over 20 more Wheat's in today's hunt. That's after 9 Silvers and 15 Wheat's were taken on Wed. Hopefully the others will put their finds in with this thread.
For myself I had the best day of this year. When I left the park I thought my count was 6 Silver coins and my first Silver Ring of the year. I was washing the coins and the ring and what I thought was a clad Rosie kept getting brighter as I put some soap and water to it. Turned out to be a 1947 Silver and My seventh Silver coin of the day. Also added 8 Wheat's and a $1.08 to the clad coffers. Jill likes the new ring. Thanks Randy for the updated counts.

Jack, you killed it again today!

It sure is amazing that the old Park continues to give it up.
Since I only found one Merc, I did not even take a picture:no:

Had a fantastic time with everybody, even the two girlswingers who showed up:lol:

Hope to see everybody at the meeting Tuesday.

Another great hunt guys, I was able to puck a few silvers and a few more wheats then what I first thought. Insane that park has produced 20+ silver in 2 hunts. Either way was great hunt and was a pleasant surprise seeing Randy and PJ.

Yes, what a great day!!!
:detector:

Great bunch of guys...Just love gettin together and group hunting with you guys.

Every one had there CTX's and 17" coil except for me. I swung my Etrac with the 13"
Ultimate. It did the trick though as a got my first Trifecta ever.

Also got an old golf ball 6" down and a religous cross about an inch below the golf ball.

Great hunt guys. Randy took a picture and will post my finds. 6 wheats, 1 Rosie and a 1901 Barber quarter (my first). Truly enjoyed the hunt, the camaraderie and the finds. Once again, thanks for the help Air Force Mike. I can now hear my signals loud and clear.

Mike, I stayed until 5:15! I wasn't going to leave till I found one more silver :digginahole:

Didn't think it would be a rosie to finish off the trifecta....I could hardly believe it when
I saw it was a rosie. After I hunted the other side of the pond with no success, I went
to the spot where I first saw you and nothing there either :( So, went to the area where
I found the barber and got the rosie.

I was so happy...not just that I found a rosie but that I could finally go home....I was tired
and hungry!

Great hunt guys.

Were those coins deep in the pounded park that only the 17" coil could reach?

How deep were you hitting them?

Great hunt guys.

Were those coins deep in the pounded park that only the 17" coil could reach?

How deep were you hitting them?

Most of the coins were at 6" - 7" with a few at 8 and 9.

I think when you start getting 7" or deeper a smaller coil is not going
to produce as confident of a signal.

Take the Barber dime for example at 7" that I got with my Etrac and the 13" Ultimate:
The signal was there and for me, since I know my machine, it was definitely one of those
signals that made me say, "this might be a good coin" but it wasn't the same signal I got
with the Merc at 5 1/2 - 6" where I almost knew it was a silver. BAM!!
loud and clear and the numbers weren't jumping too much.

The 17" coil makes those 7,8,9 and even 10" coins sound off and read like they were at 6"

So most everyone with other machines will just pass those signals up because they are
just too iffy or nonexistent.

It was a great pleasure again to get out with both of you guys again. I'm sure we will do it again soon and hopefully the Chicago group can come up and join us. Guess we may have to target a new park though.:D Jack
