I like the Bermuda triangle show better. At least they find stuff and identify things.
Left out, "HOAX"I enjoy the show and look forward to seeing just what “might” be found each week. It is entertaining at times and a welcome escape for one night a week. It appeals to a lot of interests; research, metal detectorists, treasure hunt enthusiasts, engineers, heavy equipment fanatics and those who only wished they had the time and money to pursue such an adventure.
I also like that the fact that it is family entertainment with little or no controversy. Even this thread is relatively free of negativity toward the story. There is a time and place for scrutiny of a tale but I think this one is best to just watch and see what happens.
There are other interesting treasure tales out there for discussion but I doubt any are as wholesome or free of controversy as OI.
I did a brief word search of some terms in this thread and how many times they might have been used regarding OI. I was quite surprised with the results of how many do not even appear in this thread. I suppose this is the mark of a good tale and good tv show. I'm afraid some other treasure tales wouldn't fare so well. Here are the results:

What "might" be found is the appeal to watching the show and how they go about searching for it is maybe more appealing to me.Nothing is there.
I suppose one would only know this if they were watching every episode.Every episode is the same.

I think most rational people understand the reality of the situation and despite the results thus far, are just as pleased that the show continues on.
To say "nothing is there" is really pointless?
No, its a lazy argument and an easy way to say, because you don't enjoy it, nobody should. The ratings don't lie. Its an enjoyable show to a large audience despite whether or not anything is ever found. No, it's logical.

Glad you brought "Pickers" into the conversation. I see previews for that show when I'm watching Oak Island. They all show guys walking into a hoard of antiques and collectables and making deals to buy stuff. I enjoy that show as well. I continue to watch it since season 1 despite widespread reports that the show is "staged". Again, rational folks know there is going to be a script for a TV show, it doesn't change the fact that the show is enjoyable and that the subject matter and characters involved are interesting and entertaining. If for instance, someone were to tell you there really never was an actual barn find on American Pickers would it really bring you stop watching something you enjoy?I see the previews every week while I'm watching "American Pickers".

Just because an idea is popular in no way makes it right. I don't think a single person here is upset that the show is popular. For me it is actually funny to see how far people will go to defend their favorite TV shows. it's TV, it's entertainment. If finding NOTHING entertains people well then, Have at it. Hell if I had that mindset I'd be tickled $h!tle$$ to find nothing but pull tabs, bottle caps and rusted nails. What "might" be found is the appeal to watching the show and how they go about searching for it is maybe more appealing to me.
To say "nothing is there" is really pointless? What is there is a group of dedicated, seemingly decent folks who are determined to find out one way or the other if anything is there. They admit to not knowing what if anything is there, or why the things that are found are there. They work hard, they work smart, they spend big, they get paid well and they continue to stick with it. I think most rational people understand the reality of the situation and despite the results thus far, are just as pleased that the show continues on. Expectations are what it's really about. If one only expects to find treasure in every episode and nothing else from the experience - I suppose they would be disappointed. Nobody can deny that the show appeals to a large audience. Count me among them.
.....
You get my point. This show is garbage, plain and simple.
your opinion and your welcome to it - dont watch the show if thats how you feel right . No one will argue with you , you may even be right . Does it really matter on the grand scale of things ? NopeIf you've been watching this for 11 years and still waiting to see what they'll find, I don't know what to say. Spoiler alert! They've NEVER found anything of significance and they'll NEVER find any treasure there. This show is about the Lagina brothers getting paid 100k an episode to find nothing. Every episode is the same. Dig here, drill there and never find anything. Sorry, but this really is trash TV at it's worst.
Let me ask you all this question , who the heck cares ? you guys keep this insane argument up for what reason - does it bother some of you that some folks find entertainment in the show , do you feel threatened by the fact some people get entertainment value out of the show . Jesus , leave it alone already and move on to that gold coin were all seeking .Hey there Free-Bird-Tim: Who ever said there was an "it", in the first place ? The only thing this statement says/assumes, is that there was ever a "fabulous treasure" IN THE FIRST PLACE. Ok, says who ??
Hello guy56 I'm from Grayling, Mi. I actually lived for a summer in Owosso, with a cousin, don't remember much, ( must of had a good time ). !! Yup Iv'e been known to watch The curse Show myself, like the detecting and digging, I'm watching American Pickers right now, lol And how do they know what is found or dug up, if they don't watch it ?Let me ask you all this question , who the heck cares ? you guys keep this insane argument up for what reason - does it bother some of you that some folks find entertainment in the show , do you feel threatened by the fact some people get entertainment value out of the show . Jesus , leave it alone already and move on to that gold coin were all seeking .

The persons who "the heck cares", are the persons who think that the reason OTHER persons "care", is because they must think there is, or was, a treasure there. And since we can all agree there isn't/wasn't a treasure there, then : Those who "care" , think the others should not like the show.
But I'm willing to compromise : You're right : To each his own. You're right about debating the issue of "caring". But if the debate is not about "caring" and becomes : "Is there or was there a treasure", then yes : I'm tossing my hat into the ring for a good round of debate
