Why can't we trade precious metals for other precious metals

:goodidea::popcorn: I'm all for this idea. Carols rules are solid and I believe scammer wont be to keen to post 100 times and if they do we would notice they are up to something within those 100 posts. To wade through the coins to get to gear and vise versa really has gotten out of control. AND HURRY BEFORE RUDY SEES!!!:sneaking:

One thing that I think should be mandatory is that an item that is SOLD should be marked as such in the AD. It is a real pain to read a FS AD then have to contact the seller only to find that the item was sold a few days or a week ago.

ie FS New wizbang SOLD

I bought few items this past week from the Classifieds. I went looking for the AD's and can't find them. Now I am wondering if my SOLD post was unnecessary. Unless I am mistaken it seems that the AD's I purchased from have been deleted. If that is correct I am not too happy about that policy. As I did not save the posts that had the pictures of the items I purchased I have no way of Knowing if the items are the same as the pictures I was shown. If the policy is to delete the sold AD's I believe that should be mentioned SOME WHERE.

You can only have one open for sale ad.

After a while, the thread grows 2-3 pages long and people have to wade through all the pics and replies.

If I want to save a picture of something I bought, I just right click it, and click on save image as, and then it's stored on my hard drive.

If it was deleted it was at the request of the OP to remove it because it was sold.

Other than that, the sold threads do not get removed till the end of the month per these rules in Classified's:

Classified Board Cleanup

To keep the forum tidy, old posts not under forum auspices need to be removed. Please edit your post and title when the item is SOLD so we know it's not needed anymore.

Otherwise, at the end of each month,

* Ads posted that month will be allowed to remain,
* Previously posted ads which did not receive any posts during the month will be deleted.

If your item did not sell, or trade, or you didn't purchase it during the above period, you will need to repost your ad. Sorry for the inconvenience.

My post was not about my purchases per say but about the policy. I have now read all of the rules for sellers and know why the AD's in question were removed. I use other Froums and that is not their policy, which I am used to. I didn't realize the rules were different and that is my fault.

The General Discussion pages number 255, a great number of which are Welcome to the Forum Posts. So I don't think leaving a sold item on the list for at least a week or two is too much of a bother, especially if the item is marked as SOLD. That, and allowing the Buyer to Post an "AtaBoy" or not. would be nice. But rules are rules and they are already in place, so I will abide by them, Now that I have read them.

Sorry for the noise.

When you make a new thread, you can have a little smiley face of some kind added to the side.

They are called post icons.

Now if we had a way to edit the post icon, after an item is sold, we could add a sold post icon to it, that way someone knows it's sold without even opening the thread.

That would work as well. IF it can be done. Can the Title of a post be changed? Suppose no1 if you are throwing the icon out there.

Sold items are left in the Classifieds for at least a month, unless the OP requests we remove it. For example, June and July threads are in there now. On August 1st the June threads will be removed.

Members don't like browsing through SOLD threads to have to find For Sale threads.

Yes, titles can be changed, but when you edit it, you need to click "Go Advanced."

Are you talking about Detecto's thread? (FS: Many things for sale,...) Yep, he asked me to delete it.

However, it was soft deleted. The pictures are still in the forum database. Want me to email them to you?

It might help to limit the user to no more than 2 adds per month in the section. At least that way you wont have someone running their jewlry/coin shop through the forum.:lol: Or you could get some extra mulah and let them become sponsors to post ads more frequently:lol::lol::lol:

Oh yeah off topic but I don't want to create another thread for it.

But I think we should be able to delete our posts rather then just editing them.

This way it saves the staff some troubles when we notice that we said something not so fitting. Also we should be able to just for the fact if we want to delete our posts it should be up to us.

Like now for instance I'm way off topic and I couldn't even delete it if I wanted. just edit it to sound like something on topic.

My posts count is getting too high and I don't want to seem like all I do is sit on these forums lol.

Sorry we can't do that... its off because in the past certain members for whatever reasons would get upset and start deleting everyone of their posts making many threads completely useless to where we would have to delete entire threads...

Now I know why the budget talks in D.C. are stalled.......lots and lots of things to consider......let's keep thinking on this......

I just went through the Classifieds, and there's only 3 members with threads for coins.

Doesn't warrant a forum by itself I don't think.

So maybe we should go back to the original topic of WTT coins for coins.

I can't think of any reason why a member shouldn't be allowed to trade coins if he wants.

I dunno, trading coins for coins can be tricky and you're often going to have someone that gets their "new" coin(s) and thinks, "This wasn't as good of a deal as I thought it was." This often happens when there are foreign coins in the mix. Selling coins outright often times results in fewer complaints, buyers can check the current value of the the coins for sale rather quickly and decide to buy or not.....
