Rules for Sellers/Traders

1. Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
2. Do not put up for sale or trade items on behalf of a third person, or items that you are unable to vouch for, or make right in case the item does not perform as described.
3. Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale (sponsoring dealers are exempt).

Do not put links to eBay, or other forums where you may also have the same item for sale or trade.

4. For sale items should include the price. If you don't include a price, we may think it is an auction and your post may be deleted.

PLEASE KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH!

-Precious Medals

-Precious Metals.

Some of the jewelry sold here is not found with a metal detector. Some relics are not too. Some find jewelery with their eyes.

I think we should just run it and as long as there is no problems keep it.

I've sold lots of silver and some gold here, only had one problem when it didn't test right and I promptly refunded.

Here is another idea.

I think there should be a way to put another tab on a user's profile, that could show a list of the people who they sold to, and they were happy.

Or some kind of very rudimentary ffeedback system.

Whats the difference if its found with a metal detector or not?

I can tell you what I'm selling i found and lie you'll never know and what would be the difference.

I could sell a coin that i bought or one that i found you'll never know either way.

If you want to sell it and someone wants to buy it i don't see how the item was obtained should make it a determining factor.

If its a metallic item we can say we got it metal detecting all day long. You don't get a certificate of authenticity.

Prices are determined on the metal content and numismatic value, and a collectors willing price to pay. Not if Grandpa gave it to you or you found it metal detecting.

Absolutely true. I guess we can't depend on a member's honesty. :(

I guess that's why the current rules say... "Coins, jewelry, or relics, found or not."

Very true.

This is my idea. When somebody buys something from you, they can click a button and it will generate what occurred in the "past trades" section. This button is pressed when they received the item and are happy with it.

If I sell something, I can do the same too.

People who have a longer list would be considered more trusted.

As far as scammers, I don't think a scammer is going to wait 60 days and make 100 posts just to scam anyone, scammers have little patience.

Not going to happen.

But if a member has quite a few for sale ads etc. in the subforum, then that would make them "appear" that they have considerable reputation.

I don't think you'd even have too many problems with scammers i can't see people using the site to facilitate transactions too big. I don't see too many people coming to trade a ounce of platinum or gold at once. Its probably going to be small transactions. Probably more to worry about in the gear section when people sell 1k etracs.

There are more scams on eBay in one hour then there have been here for 10 years.

Your going to have a couple bad apples in any bunch.

However the 60 days/min post will weed 98% of them out.

There is always a risk involved buying and selling, life is all about risks.

There are quite a few people here that have said that they would rather buy something from a member on here than eBay. I feel the same way. There a quite a few members here that I would have no qualms about making an expensive purchase from them.

That would be nice, but I can't see it happening. You would need a "hack" for that.

The problem with hacks is that they mess up the forum templates, and when we upgrade to vb 4.0, you have to revert the hacks, upgrade, and reinstall.

Another problem is, this is a metal detecting forum. Being able to sell something is a "perk"... not... the main focus of the forum.

If all a member is doing on this forum is selling stuff, and not out there metal detecting, having fun, and helping others through informed posts, we have failed in our goal.

I don't think just because you can sell PMs will take away from the metal detecting aspects of the site.

There might be a few guys who end up using it to make a little bit of profit etc. But if they are selling legit i don't see a problem.

Now ifs its like you said where people end up joining with never even having the thought about metal detecting and only want to buy and deal PMS. Then that's where regulations come in and you give them the ban hammer.

I see mostly people using it as trading finds. Of course some will sell non finds but i see that as good also let the community get the most bang for our buck when we can sell and buy at melt will let all of us as a community get a little more bang for their buck.

Why sell to the ARA for -2% below melt if someone here is willing to pay the melt price.

Not to put their name out but treasurequest has already implemented this and i don't see problems with it. In fact pretty much no one on that sites even uses it.

When i tried using their site to do my trades i was on page one 2nd thread and didn't even read the post date but i was trying to do a trade from a post in 2007.

Though i do think this site will use it more. And i mean their trade thread not the auction section.

That is easy for you to say but its us that has to watch it...

I think one of the rules should be that you have so many post per. year too. There is some people on here who have been on here for about 4 years and only have 40post. To keep people from just using this place just to sell there things.
