Who wears headphones while detecting?

headphones

Yes! I tried without them and found that I get a clearer picture of what is in the ground when I use them. mine are light and comfortable, so no issues.

Think when detecting in places where other people share the space, it's kind of noise pollution is kind of rude. I don't like cars, with the super loud stereos, or boosted bass. Why do they where earplugs, if they enjoy it so loud? Cell phones one speaker, like no one else exists. Video games on the phone...

I wear a Bluetooth earpiece. Lightweight, no leash to fight with (get to do that twice a day with my dog). I like keeping one ear open, to stay aware of what's going on around me. My eyes are watching where I walk (habit from dog walking), the screen on my detector. Never like the large, heavy style headphones. I can hear the subtle differences in the tone, with the earpiece.

Hot sun

Keeps my ears from getting sunburnt.;). Really though, I find it rude to expose others to the beep, beep, honk, blat noise. I absolutely hate it when some jerk carries on a conversation on a cel phone in my proximity.

Something stinks... and it's what you just typed! You have no clue what you're talking about. I hear "faint" signals just fine without headphones.

Also... the "Veteran" (HAHA... good friend of mine) who posted about not using headphones was beyond obnoxious... he was just being naughty... (he enjoys creating chaos). He actually yammers away plenty, but also finds the stuff while we have fun - in fact he's one of the best hunters I have ever swung with!

Like I said, in denial !!

Headphones? Me?

Oh yeah! I didn't use them with my first (cheap Radio Shack) detector. Then I used my BH 840 several days before using headphones. What a difference! I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't want to use them. Yes, some cover the ears and cancel out almost all of the surrounding sounds. I used to wear some that really cancelled out the sounds around me; but I was hunting in a school yard with no one around except maybe my friend with his BH. Now, I use light-weight headphones that let me hear most of the surrounding sounds; but I still get great sounds from the detector. They are not cumbersome, don't seem to heat my ears much in summer. I can put them on and wear a toboggan, knit, stocking, (what ever you call them) cap over them for warmth in the winter. I try to get headphones that have at least a 5' cord (leads). I can lay the detector down and not have to unplug the earphones while digging. I hate the short cords because I jerk them around enough that they don't last long. I could unplug them; but then the detector can sound thru the speaker. I could turn the detector off while the 'phones are unplugged; but then I'd have to retune it. I'm not sure if unplugging the phones, but leaving the adapter plugged in would cause any strain of the detector or not. (A lot of electronic equipment is not to be used with speakers or headphones.) Also, if the cord is long enough to cause trouble, I just fold it until I have the length I want and put a tie-wrap, rubber band, etc. on it. It works great for me.

If they only made wireless earbuds.... THEN I would use them more. In this modern world of awesome tech, how come no one has made them yet?? Even the CTX3030's wireless module system was too annoying for me.... and I also know what you mean about wearing glasses and wanting to smash my headphones!

I use these for my phone. http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-Tone-HBS-730-Bluetooth/dp/B009A5204K/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384977463&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=LG+HBS700+-+headset+-+In-ear%2C+Binaural Don't have a bluetooth adaptor for my detector though and just use wired earbud in one ear and BT bud in other for phone calls while detecting without having to take off my gloves.

I do, but mostly so I can't hear my neighbor yelling at me when I'm in her next door neighbor's yard. It does prevent me from hearing her camera when she's taking pictures of me, trying to get me in trouble.

most ugly headphones

I don't like this pink color, but for the price I guess I'll give them a try
Some uneasy girl didn't want them anymore
For field hunting it will be OK.But if I go to the beach,I would better hide
them under the collar of my shirt :p
For the ACE250 ,this is a must :music::rofl:

tried them once. never again.

too uncomfortable.

plus, since I'm in the middle of the woods 95% of the time, my noise doesn't bother anything. Except snakes. Which is fine by me. Slither away you creepy things!

Bluetooth

BT has a delay! at least every one I tried did. It has something to do with BT has to compress the sound to transmit it then expand it again in the headset? I use Motorola S9 Bt (now S10) for my PC and Phone, They are behind the head over the ear and in the ear headphones (my favorite style Hands down). I tried them with several different BT transmitters and didn't care for the Delay! Rapoo H3070 wireless work fine in air testing but I haven't hunted with them yet! My other two MDs have matching wireless Headsets That work great! Deus Backset is nice and semi comfortable, Whites Spectrasound is like having 6in elliptical Coils stuck to your ears! I'm saying they aren't small! They will be nice in the winter GL & HH.....Pat,,, again

I Agree with Jressman

Since we are all out there cleaning up the world, why pollute (noise) ourselfs? And, I believe batteries last twice as long, if not longer.
HH everyone

well me bouy

Only wear them in the water a swishing. Hunt wooded areas a tad and don't want to hang me self. Wild animals and dogs sneak up on youz so no way Hosay!
