What does everyone do for a living?

I work for AT&T in their cell phone data support department (help people w/ their cell phones concerning internet and email). Been almost 2 years here and its interesting.

Retired almost four years ago after 40+ years in the brick manufacturing business. I guess my fulltime job now is landscaping around new house my wife and I just completed. Serious hobby besides "tecting" is getting my new woodworking shop set up. I had better hurry. The list of projects from my wife and daughter is growing. But I really enjoy building projects. It's nice to have a hobby that kinda supports itself. Someone is always wanting something built. Problem is, the projects I build for my wife and daughter don't pay too well. I fact, they always cost me. Oh-well they have mastered the art of "paying high compliments" on what I make. That's good enough.

I am a retired Detective & Arson Investigator from the City of Poughkeepsie in New York, I moved to Florida in 1989 after 20 years of service and being only 40 years old at the time was really to young to retire.

I work in Florida as a Public Insurance adjuster, which means we work for the people against the insurance company to get the clients the maximum money on their insurance claims.....

-Retired Air Force crew chief, A10, T38, KC135
-A&P mechanic for Learjet and Hawker Beechcraft
- As of Oct 2007 I write Service Bulletins for HBC

I was an avid Bass fisherman and golfer, but injuries I sustained in the Air Force continued to eat at me to the point I could no longer participate in those activities. I picked up the MDing as a replacement hobby. I love it because it is the same thrill as tossing a pig-n-jig in the perfect spot and hoping there is a fish waiting. I have not mastered the art of “seeing” the perfect spot where the dirt fish are hiding, but I am working on it. The fact that I can do it anywhere, not just the lake is great, and I don’t spend $40 bucks every time out. The X-70 is very light and so far has not bothered my neck or shoulder enough to stop me. This site has been awesome to meet some new friends and gain knowledge from those with experience. OkieDigger helped me to pay attention to my swing by pointing out I was letting the coil come up at the end of my swing, great for my 64 degree wedge, not so good for MDing.

I have done everything with cars from mechanic work, buying/selling, scraping, and rebuilding. I have all my own equipment and have done welding and fabrication on the side also. Along with slowing me down on all these hobbies, my injuries were also affecting my ability to make a living turning wrenches, so I took a job as one of the office guys I used to make fun of.

At 47 I have started a new career and a new hobby. I am loving both!

Ed I did my A10 time at "K13", Suwon Korea. It was an awesome feeling sitting in that airplane with the engines running and a full belly of 30mm rounds.

I just got done playing electrician/plumber. The $80 element in my water heater I replaced in January went out again. It must have been some amp draw the way it melted the side out of the element before it blew the breaker. Do you think I would have felt that in the tub? lol

I think it was sub-contracted to china who sub-contracted it to hondurus or something. Sold as a Marathon, made by Rheem, not supported by anyone because it is so old.....10 years!

Since the parts are 3rd party you know how good they are! I am hoping to get an on-demand type water heater as a replacement, but I will do some research before buying this time.

From what I hear, that's the way to go--good luck!

Currently I work in Marine Seismic Acquisition for WesternGeco. My office is worldwide (my last 7 week trip took me to Singapore, Maldives, Egpyt, Malta, Gilbraltar, Norway and Holland). I basic monitor seismic data coming into the ship as we drag our equipment through the water and make sure everything is okay. We are generally hired by big oil.

I am also in the IRR portion of my 8 yr contract with the USAR, it's up in November of this year, and I spent 19 month in Iraq, mostly doing frontline aircracft refueling... but also did convoy support all over.

I'm a retired college instructor. I taught radio broadcasting, and I ran the college radio station.

I also wrote, researched, hosted, produced, and pretty much ran a television Quiz Bowl program for 25 years. I invited teams from all the area high schools to compete each year. It was kinda like a cross between College Bowl and Jeopardy.

Now I write self-published books, and I'm toying with the idea of starting a syndicated newspaper quiz column, based on the questions I wrote for the Quiz Bowl program.

FFM, I'm replacing my water heater soon, what do you think of the Marathon? I can get it through our REA. Isn't it supposed to have a life time warranty?
