Tried The TRX

I told ya it was a chatty cathy lol! My experience with it was exactly like yours. The pro pointer just does it job fast no fuss at all. I traded the trx to a forum member here for a pair of grey ghost water proof ctx head phones and the guy said I see why you did not want the trx he said I hate it!

Were you running it at the factory settings? I had little clue where my experience started with my test trial yesterday since it was a loaner, except that air tests showed about double of the Garretts distance(factory settings) without the nickel trick. The chatter plus the non-radiating side detections ability ain't gonna keep the majority of GPP fans happy over time IMPO. martin

A V3i user saying a pinpointer is complicated... I would love to see how your V3i is set up without reading the manual. :D

As a metal detectorist, you should be able to ground balance anything in 2 seconds.

Finding a so-called clean area of ground here in most coin-promising spots takes tones more than 2 seconds.

Well only time will tell how good the whites TRX really is... I know that a forum user dropped his from his holster and it cracked the case, so back to whites for a replacement.
I see that there are a lot of good reviews out there, but it all depends on the user and it's conditions.
What's good for one is bad for another... And I respect that. I am a whites user and will probably be purchasing one soon, but rather wait and let others be the lab rats for now....

Not so many "in the dirt" real-time videos though. Hardly any at all. Air tests don't matter much.

just tapping the button when chatting should gb/noise cancel/ratchet whatever you want to call it. Whatever is currently making it go off, emi/target/ground/whatever, is "canceled out" with a quick button press. How you use it or what you want to call it is up to you.

just wondering...?

Anyone care for the V360 PP? And how much are the TRX's going for, in general? thx.

sounds like the switch is going to see tons of cycles with all the ratching, GB, and all that ... time will tell and we'll know more by the end of the year

Dunno, read the manual and watched the vids and...

I'm really leaning towards the TRX. Looks like a great piece of tech! I'm gonna have to get hold of the White's dealers in Fort Walton and see if they got a demo for me to try out... bet they will!

Not bad

I like it so far, yes it does seem to false some, just hit the button, it's nice not to have to break up a plug, going over the plug that 4 inch detection is nice, with the Garrett, it's break up the plug most of the time, I am new to it, and I will try the ground balancing out Thursday, Earl

I was a bit intimidated by the TRX at first since I have used the Garrett's Pro pointer almost exclusively. The Garrett IS a turn on and go unit.
Right out of the box the TRX was a bit confusing. What I did, was read the instructions then read them again. I then searched Google for some videos and within 10 minutes I had this thing figured out and was maneuvering through it with no problems.
Like any piece of equipment, once you get used to the features and controls, you start to find the nuances and good things happen.
Not selling my Pro Pointers anytime soon and even just picked up a used Minelab Pro Find but with the adjustable depth/sensitivity the TRX will be my starting pin pointer this season.

flyboy,
I have a Vulcan360 that will get delivered tomorrow I will PM after I get home from work and do the air tests and let you know how it is

I like the idea of going 4 inches deep in the hole. Finding those 8 inch dimes can be time consuming. The TRX has been a pleasure so far. I have used the Garrett, Minelab, Vibraprobe, Pistol Probe and Sunray. The TRX is the best I have used. Even if it breaks once that will be two times less than my Garrett. Use what makes you happy.

I appreciate all of the replies. There's so many positive people concerning the TRX,,,I'll give it more of a serious try again once mine gets delivered.

Thanks. martin

I've read an aweful lot of comments on this piece of gear and the thing that stands out to me is someone tried to stuff 10 pounds of !!!! in a 5 pound sack. An old engineering principle seems to have been forgotten. KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid.

First time I ever heard the KISS phylosophy was from my mentor in billiards back in the 90s. Most new players and even half speed short stop players "over-play" shots.

Nowadays, a cell phone has to have Facebook, whereas I had a pre-Iphone era cell for about 15 years. I talked, and the other end talked back. That phone still works to this day.

Whites will sell a lot of them. You just can't hardly beat a Propointer for what it does though. Garrett has made a small fortune just off of the ProPointer.
