Uhhh...I hunted for a few more than two hunts when I started and just found trash.
It is possible you are just not in areas where there are coins, if you are hunting in places like public parks, even your front lawn there are probably coins there but you just haven't figured out how to notice them yet.
All detectors can find metal, yours and even cheaper ones can find coins fairly easily with a little knowledge which you don't seem to have a lot of...yet.
Blaming the detector is a sign of very little patience, get some and keep trying because the magic is not in your tools or even that trash setting on that other unit which is just a pre-set discrimination process...it is in you.
When you find your first coins that will give you knowledge and knowledge is all in this hobby.
You will laugh about this post up the road a bit, never give up, never surrender and always keep learning.
I had a not so great detector and found no coins at all until I tried hunting in my first tot lot.
Found a few then I went into the dirt and found more now that I had a clue and it got easier from then on.
It gets better as you get better.
