Test Results Data photo added

Thanks Guys for doing the time and putting all together and sharing. Really interesting results. It's amazing that from one location to the next results can be so different. And really Amazed with the GT UT 13....WOW...

Thanks for putting the time in fellas. I appreciate all the work you guys put in and posting the results.

Keeps me sane from all this down time and the garbage white stuff that keeps dropping from the sky. My GOD will it ever stop ?

Got spoiled these last few Winters...this Winter is making up for lost time in a big way.

Buy yourself a truck and a plow and you will think differently ;)

On the CZ set to "Sensitivity Max", was it cranked to the max regardless of sand mineralization, or the maximum without falsing?

Here is the link to my video. I just set it up on a tripod and let it run. You can kind of hear the talking about the machines, its not the greatest, also some foul language may be in it, so if that offends anyone sorry. It is 29 min long. On Cliff's vid he says what each machine is and coil size.

A few things to add:

Numbers listed on spreadsheet are in addition to the target depth (coil in air above sand)

I knew when I did this it would be controversial so don't expect any arguments from me!

Dew mentioned black sand.... IMHO this wasn't black sand and was low mineralization.... there are however many small pieces of aluminum and iron in the sand.... I found this out using the Gold Bug Pro in the wet sand... Now you want to see Black Sand, hit Presque Isle beach in Pa!

Wish I would have still had my GT with the SEF 10 x 12, my gut tells me it would held up to the 13" Ultimate.

I want a rematch someday with Dew, I just got my 17" for the CTX

I definitely want a Blue Excal ..... anyone want to part with one or know of a good one, PM me! I deal in cash or gold.....:D

It was a fun time getting together with the guys

Down here, you can crank the sense all the way up... Chris however forgot about the volume boost which may have made the deeper target come in better! No ground balance done on the CZ prior to test, not sure of his GB setting.

Glad you took your camera Joe, in my videos, I failed to turn on the camera for recording of the CTX and ATX.....got everyone but me!

I am not sure what band you guys used but at 11" my teenie weenie sounded good on a narrow 14K band. I assume it was the same band Cliff brought to the test, narrow 14K about 3 grams or so. In PP mode mine was strong. In disc it sounded good but without overlapping my coil swings I might have missed it. Another hunter with us took his blue back to the car. His did not make a peep. Maybe there are differences in machines that are not inherent. Meaning some are hotter than others. I think a lot of variables exist but after seeing Dew's results I think a lot of people are now searching for a new GT coil. I already did, not many available.

You can have different tolerance coils and machines. I know your 8" Xcal ll hears stuff my 10" doesn't. Plus yours may be one of the ones made in Ireland. I learned about coils the easy way after owning a V3i and 4 non v rated 950 coils. Some can take more juice than others. Things like hot car interiors can also effect coils performance down the road. I think that 13" ultimate might be selling good for quite a while.

Cliff any chance you can explain what the numbers mean? Us screen users got to understand the numbers:lol:

I did in a few posts above but here is what I said...

Numbers listed on spreadsheet are in addition to the target depth (coil in air above sand)

So take for instance a number of 6 on the chart.... then add the target depth which would give you the total distance from the coil to the target.... target depth of 8" + 6" recorded (air space above target to coil) would equal 14" for that target.

IF I'd have thought all the detectors would have done as well as they did, I would have used either deeper targets or smaller ones to really push the machines.

For some reason the camera shut off so just at the end with the 3030, didn't get the ATX. I am uploading the part with the chains and bracelets. The
1st one took about 3 hrs.

I know where you did the test. That location is where you need some depth. Without a cut, targets are deep as hell. Bet you don't see many surfers out there:lol: I've lived on the East coast ever since I was born and we've never seen water that calm:lol: How far does the tide drop?

yes, I hunt with sens maxed out in autotune. However like Cliff said I forgot to test the "boost" feature. I'm sure that would have made a difference on the last hard to hear target.

cdv, Thanks for taking the time to put this together, love this kind of stuff.

I also wish you had the 10x12 SEF to try out on the GT. I had both coils for my GT and they are both great. The 13" Ultimate definitely had the edge on the 10x12. However, I kept the 10x12 because the difference ( for me ) wasn't significant enough to keep both.

I wanted to keep the smaller coil because we hunt in the rocks a LOT. If you're going to hunt on the wet/dry sand and open fields go with the 13" Ultimate....you won't regret it.

Your tests prove what a deadly combination the GT/13" Ultimate really is.

Nice job and great info, thanks for the work. Now if you really want to get fancy give me some bar graphs and line charts ;)

Interesting perspective, Greg. Before giving any brand credit for being absolutely consistent, it might be interesting to test 6 or 8 identical models to see if you get identical readings.
