Yah Dusty pretty much nailed it sans the specific details... which are ever changing. The last design (that I liked the most) I got bids from 3 places to help with a prototype. The cheapest place wanted $800 just to do CAD drawings. No thanks. Now I am back to dragging my feet with the original/simple design... Maybe I should just post plan/idea here for criticism (and hope Tesoro Inc. doesn't "detect" the idea...).

Yah Dusty pretty much nailed it sans the specific details... which are ever changing. The last design (that I liked the most) I got bids from 3 places to help with a prototype. The cheapest place wanted $800 just to do CAD drawings. No thanks. Now I am back to dragging my feet with the original/simple design... Can you reduce it to Umax size?
Being a fisherman, I have heard a lot of fish stories and this one is a biggie.
His idea/concept is do-able, it's just a matter of getting a working prototype I think....

I am a bit surprised that nobody has a booster that goes between the box and coil. Guess I do not know enough about the electronics but that is what I was thinking this was all about.

Yeah yeah yeah, lazy.....LOL
Still working on several PI detectors since last winter, boards are done just need to make a coil, dragging my heels for over a month to build a winding contraption. It's 90% done and usable, been trying to get some time to wind for a week now.
By the way i found Netflix too, told wife need an Xbox 360 to get Netflix. Excuse so i can play some racing games, wife loves Netflix.......
My latest project is wireless headphones, look promising. Need to make several mods and add a PCB. Ready to do it, now I have to wait for several weeks as I had to order a single $1.00 part from China of all places. Can't find anything in this city I live in...
Enjoy Netflix while I enjoy racing dirt bikes on Xbox....

Well this was five minutes of reading I'll never get back.
Diggler, if you don't plan/want to make a profit off this device, set it up as open source hardware and throw it out to the public. Even then you could make some $$ from it if you have something useful and fun.
Whatever it is you're doing could be moved along a lot faster and cheaper with a community working on it. You could start a forum site for free and we could all post our collaborations and testing in one convenient place.
I would be willing to set aside some time for your project if you: tell us exactly what you're attempting to accomplish and: I like the idea

5 minutes??? Man, check into the Evelyn Wood Speed Reading Course... But I usually just consult with Billy Jack for a quick synopsis on all posts
I sent some PDF's and explanations of this simple idea to Vito... So do what you will... Folks who wanted a go-cart for Christmas and only got a bicycle might be disappointed... I would still like to use one, but digging it all has been working out OK for me lately anyway... I might just unsubscribe now and keep checking with sponsors until I can buy one.
