Stavr Scoop Questions

I would like to say the D scoop is coming soon. But my friend who built and designed them is so tied up with family and work, it's going to be awhile. My thing is there are many great scoops out there, many close if not better. Only thing the D scoop has the others don't is, exotic metals. Titanium, 2025 Aluminum...which both are stronger or as strong as ss and weight about 25% less. The reason no one else use these metals, cost and the 2025 is not weldable.

I thing your going the right track, I love stavr's scoop, along with the 720, RTG's, Babbs. I tell you right now, this summer I will be trying a shovel, I seen guys years ago in NC/OBX using them, now the revolution has started...

THE NEXT BIG POPPA!!

Thank you oldbeechnut; I'm seeing a Stavr in the near future methinks. I'll still be watching out for that Diablo as well; good luck with the ongoing project. Let us know how the shovel works out too. It can't be too bad, after all, before we even knew about detecting and needed to dig something up we used a..............yes, a shovel.

Titanium Diablo = I'd be willing to plunk down $300 for one right now! Hope this lights a fire under someones butt!

That's probably what the aluminum one will cost.. bet you can double that price for titanium :D

The Diablo reminds me of the pulse devil discriminating PI :D

A titanium scoop for $300.. don't think so?
Even $600 might be a minimum price?

The cost of titanium is the problem. And working titanium is harder than stainless in most grades. To gain the most benefit, using grade 5 would be the best and is made in sheets more than other grades.

Yes, titanium is the perfect metal for a scoop if it wasn't for the high price.
Just the material cost for the two I have was around $250 each and this was for left-over, or drop pieces. My two-piece shovel/walking stick was about $300 in material cost and if I had to pay for the fab and machine work it would have been in the $800 or $900 range.

There you go...your shovel is perfect, but trying to convince water hunters that it is the perfect tool is ............ fill in the blank.

No Chuck you are very confused .. I'm not trying to tell WATER hunters anything as the shovel is useless in the water .
What I'm trying to tell newcomers who may never go in thecwatervti stop wasting close to $209 on an unnecassary tool .. A $20 or less shovel does a way better job unless they are physically unable to bend over ..

I really couldn't care less what anybody uses as it's their business but I'm tired if guys preaching that you MUST haveca scoop to beach hunter .. I have somehow managed since 1974 :)
