I don't have any expensive or realy fancy ones, but they were cool digging.

The top is a Rogers Brothers 1847 Pattern from like 1936. Found this one still in the small camp fire pit with the chicken bones.

The lower one is from the Crown Silver Company from like 1881.

Amazing that people actually took their good silver out on picnics.. The few spoons I've found were always cheap and bent up. Although I found one that appears to be military in nature behind a very old home that was used to feed soldiers during the war of 1812. The Only mark on it is an eagle or hawk with it's wings spread, on the back side of the handle, maybe holding arrows in it's claws.

Steve in so az,

That is a really cool spoon, any story to that dig?

Thanks to all for sharing!

No spoons this year, yet, for me...

Mine is a spoon I found in my backyard, not silver but it did belong to a soldier in the Second Seminole War! This dates before 1842.

Two this week...

1939 Court Silver Plate Teaspoon and a "US Sterling" Spoon I think dates to 1890s.

First silver spoon. This was a few months back.

Was out for about an hour this morning when I got a strong sound coming out of my Cutlass II Tesoro. Yep my first silver spoon...National Overture 1936 pattern sterling silver. I found this at a park area near some tennis courts. I wonder who would have taken this to a picnic.

Dang, a whole bunch of cool spoons since I last checked this thread!! Thanks for posting guys!!

Staying on the topic of silver spoons, I never thought I would get to post another on this thread so soon!! But today, at a school, it rang up as an 83, I was thinking, yes, another merc!! I was slightly disappointed once I dug enough to see the bowl of the spoon, I had already dug a couple aluminum measuring spoons this year..

I fished it out of the hole and discovered it was my first baby spoon! It was not as shiny as silver should be, but this ground it tough on silver for some reason... I rubbed the back just enough to read "sterling" and my day was made right there!! It took a lot of cleaning with baking soda but it now looks ready to feed a little one again..

Proud to put another on the board...

Couple nice oldies Ron...

Looks like you tried to chop the two silver ones about the exact same... What happened, heard that silver tone got a little frisky with the digger? Just messing with ya.. I've chopped up a couple really nice digs too..

Mine always happens when I just had a hard time digging a bunch of junk finds a get frustrated, and then... I get to feel really stupid lol...
