Sold My Gold for $94,000.00

And who would be dumb enough to sell during this current drop in gold prices..

Maybe the OP...

<*)))>{

Well depending on if you need the money or not. people sell. You have to look at it as you got it for free anyways so its all profit no matter when you sell.

I see your point, but $94K is a lot of clams...

<*)))>{

Well thats different.... Thats like a few years worth of work for me. lol I wish I had that much gold! I wouldn't sell right now gold either if I had that much.

I don't know gold prices that well, but how much more do you think that 94K would have been half year ago?

Well at one point it hit $1900 an OZ and if he sold now at $1300 an OZ I would think thats a lot of money he would have missed out on..

Even though it's obviously fake, if the check was dated 6/1, spot would have been around $1385 or so.

If he sold it at $1300 an ounce he had roughly 72 ounces........... why hold that much in the first place :?:. Hmmmm......... seems like someone just looking for attention :lol:, JMHO.

right!! and on top of that why would you cash it in all at the same time? IRS would have had a field day with this guy if it was real and hes going through all this mess with legal action. :laughing: .

thats why you CASH the check instead of depositing it. Illegal Revenue Service wont know jack about it if you're exchanging paper for paper instead of paper for 0's and 1's on a computer.

Got news for you. That won't work. Banks will report the transaction to the government. Anything over $2000 (I think that's the threshold) gets reported.

Over $5k, but yeah, no way will the bank not file a SAR on someone trying to do that. :laughing: The black helicopters will be flying around your house very soon.

Yea its 7000. Banks electronically notify the IRS of any certified checks over 7000. I believe it is a Form 8300. It is needed to obtain search warrants if there is a problem. Sounds bad but it is common practice. Most are not investigated. This is from memory so if I'm off a little don't dog pile me.

LOL Great thread.

MY question is two fold. How does somebody get that much scrap gold and how could every piece be fake? And if he had 72oz, that would be PURE not 14K. 14K would be right around 125oz WOW. Ohh he said 16K, so a bit less BUT he sold it to a We Buy Gold place!! So he got maybe 85% of value if lucky. LOL

And the computer the cheap buyer has doesn't know how to spell check. Maybe the OP could show us a copy of his bank statement showing us a deposit? LOL

Ah, I love the site of a fake / fraudulent check ! Some time ago I owned a huge anti-scam forum and I used to collect fake / fraudulent checks from nigerian scammers all the time.

Here is one that beats the original posters check
