I've searched and could not find any novelty sterling silver metal detectors
I dabble in metal smithing and have made a few small ones from copper.
I made these two from .925 wire. The bigger one is a total of 10.4 Grams
and modeled after my AT pro. The smaller one is a total of 5.1 grams and modeled after my strait shaft X-terra 705. They are crude looking but they are very hard to make being so small.
I think there neat and thought I'd share.

I made a few several years ago but I think I gave them all away. I may have to see if I have enough scrap to make some more. I haven't done much lately since no one wants to even pay what my silver costs.

Got any tips lol

These are very hard and time consuming to make got any tips to share?
I was think about makeing a few more and trying to sell them here on the site.
I was thinking about the silver and time to make them.Would someone pay enough to make it worth while?
These are not available anyware so these would be an exclusive item.
I can add more better detailed pics if anyone is interested.
Thanks for looking.

I believe I soldered pins to the backs of mine so they could be worn as tie tacks or hat pins.

Very cool idea and nice work! It would be cool if you used either a silver dime or a 3 cent silver for the coil...just a thought.

I've been having some metal casting ideas past couple of years, thought I'd share. There are 3-d models for most products these days, many freely available on the internet. There are 3-d printers, which can produce plastic parts from 3-d computer models, with pretty good resolution available in the $2,000-$3,000 range. There are also online printing services, that aren't very expensive either. Just seems like it would be pretty easy to get a detailed and accurate model, to produce a mold of pretty much any size desired.

I did some experiments with silicone molds a year or so ago, then we started getting really busy at work. We took on a lot of new customers, who are constantly opening new stores. The new stores need everything, so opening orders are huge, but not what gets the company on a major hiring spree. They are adding new employees, since we will have more volume, but it will settle out eventually. Just a lot of hours for us initially. Only so much spare time, and too many hobbies...

I make jewlery pieces but never have made castings before I thought about just what your talking about.Make a mold from something or a core then use
metal clay to produce these with it would be so much faster and eaiser to make them.
These little silver detector are not available anyware so if someone would
or could produce and sell them on an economical level I think they would do very well.

too big!

Keeping it to scale would make it five or six inches long. To big for jewelry.

Yes these are to big as a jewelry item,They would be more like for sitting on a shelf or in a display as a conversation piece! I got one made from copper thats around 5" long had it in my truck hanging on my mirror but it danced around too much. Many who metal detect have display cabinets for their finds I have two,So these would be for something like that. Just kinda trying to get an idea
of a market for them.
