Singapore Gold!

What incredible results, that is a really great place to detect. Thanks for sharing!

Singapore was one of my favorite places to visit when I was in the Navy. I didn't have my detector with me back then but wow, what a haul! Congrats and HH!

Diving: Go to Malaysia. I used to drive 3 hours to a tiny village and then take a 20 minute boat ride to it. God diving, and a great crew. It's called the Rimba Resort on Sibu island.
(yes, I searched it with a detctor - found nothing but a few modern coins).

Now, there is a tiny group of islands just south of Sentosa that have been occupied for hundreds of years, and those beaches may be really cool to search. There is only one boat per day, and you need camp out there (rough it). You can get permits to camp at Sentosa. The Islands are called the Sisters. These beaches and warm blue waters make snorkeling a favourite activity, and the islands are also popular with (few) picnickers and (fewer) campers.

The islands are home to some of Singapore's richest reefs. A wide variety of corals can be found in the waters surrounding the islands. Big Sister's Island is home to some long-tailed macaques.

There are no overnight facilities. Here's a Google map.

Hi All, I guess I'm the other Singaporean, hunting with Lineweed, that Peter mentioned in his post. So if you guys ever comes to Singapore, pm me, I would love to bring you there and let's hunt together. Peter is right, our beach is trashy, that's why my first MD, the Whites PI, almost drives me crazy, I'm selling it any takers?

Ah.... "Peter Kennett the trailblazer, opened Singapore to the treasure hunters of the west!"

Virgin territory, is that great or what?

Really great finds! Your FSO training and experience or perhaps just good old common sense told you to speak with all of the local officials, cross your T's and dot you i's. Not great running afoul of the law, even worse when you're "somewhere else". Great story and great pics......thanks for sharing!

Completely amazing.

This is magazine material, you could have submitted it.

You should start a travel booking business for MDers to go somewhere like this but closer, it would probably cost thousands to go there just to detect for a week. Too bad there are no Asian colonies in the Caribbean? Darn it they are all British, Spanish, French, and Dutch!?

Can you bring all that treasure back or do you have to sell it before coming back?

Hit it hard and hit it quick Lineweed. Oh, and please get in the water...at least up to your armpits:D My bet is there's 3x the finds from knee to chest deep.

Amazing, stunning finds!!:wow:

But I do wonder also about dealing with customs officers. Sure if you have a couple of rings on you and some coins. But a coffee can filled with precious jewelery?

I brought everyone back in my luggage, and then had $4,000 in gold melted down. I kept the rest.

Wow. Looks awesome, and it looks like a place where people wear (and lose) jewelry! Congrats on all the amazing finds. If there is any way at all I can go for a few weeks this year, I am going to try and make it happen.

Do you guys go in the water there or is this all dry sand / wet sand hunting?

Also, Lineweed, I have sent you a PM.

Ha ha ha.....just what I was thinking, the cost of airline tickets. Just checked, $1300 return ticket! Then, you'll have to bring the wife too, so that's $2600 right there. You'll probably have to stay at least 1 month to make it worthwhile:lol:

My very first diving instructor once went to Malaysia for some diving. She like it even more than diving in Belize. But she does not do metal detecting and now I have to take into account both when going on vacation.
