The funny part is Terry tries to promote Tesoro, but ends up drawing so much attention and negativity from people having to correct his outlandish claims... that he ends up hurting his beloved Tesoro's reputation instead of helping it.

Terry... just stop, your agenda is see-through.

Nah, when it gets slow you see more of the stuff going on. Actually sells more tesoros since some guys will check to see what the fuss is about. Funny he pm'd me at youtube three years ago with his beach gold. It's some of the same stuff he's still posting! Telling people how easy beach hunting is, etc. More to it than that. You aren't gonna win an argument with someone like that. I grew up on the beach. We are all fooled by the beach at times. If someone wants to run out and buy a SS and a scoop and hit our beaches be my guest. Just remember who told you it was easy. He's posting more now because he REALLY isn't finding anything!

Don't be in such a hurry to leave. This has been going on for a year or two here and will pass. Most people don't hate the Sand Shark they don't like the messenger. Hang around for a while and enjoy the Dysfunctional Friendly Family. Remember every family has a few.

I am still researching to find a relatively cheap metal detector and came across the Tesoro Sand Shark. I want to metal detect mostly beaches that are salt water.

Are PI metal detectors OK to use on the shore of a saltwater beach? I don't want to go diving with it, I just want to be able to get some more depth than a single frequency, without having to go to minimum discrimination.

Thanks for the help

Bet your sorry you asked for help here, huh? :frustrated:

No one makes anyone come on these threads. Somewhere in this one there has been some good advice given. Like metal detecting..... take the good stuff and dump the trash.

After detecting for over 25yrs. here is SWFL I love my SS. I sell detectors and could use any brand I want. Yeah I love to dig alot and you can say I'm OCD. But don't say I'm a paid spokes person for Tesoro frankly I would rather sell one of the many other brands i sell. Tesoro makes a good product with excellent warranty but the other manufactures treat there dealers better.

With that said the SS is an excellent salt water detector for here in FL..
I hunt with friends who use Excals and CZ's and most of the time I find the best & the most finds. Is it the SS who knows I tend to think it has more to do with the person swinging the detector then the detector. Just my opinion. HH, phil

Phil... this thread is not about any particular brand of machine... its about giving the proper advice to a newcomer to the hobby...

I gave this young man good advice as I knew where he was going to hunt that is the bottom line... I gave him some tips to spots close to his home...

I offered to meet him at the beaches I hunt and show him how to use the Sovereign he purchased... he made a great choice... he will be able to use it in the dirt, dry sand, wet sand at fresh and saltwater beaches...
