"Northeast Electrictronic Archaeologists" - 2016 Spring Meet and Sweep #1 Proposed.

How about a cheap motel nearby

That can definitly be done.. i am trying to put together a short list of accommodations in the area to accompany the release of the site info.

There is one campground very close... but it is closed that week. It's too bad, I found another thats about 18 Miles away. Not too bad. But closer is better so I am still looking.

At the fishing meet I mentioned, we had people staying off the campground and they would come visit as guests then leave for the comfort of the motel as the fire faded. so It's not a big deal. I can try to list one near the site and one near the campground. We used to just try to be in one place for a group photo...we can dial that stuff in later if there is any interest.

If anyone who is already aware of the site/area would like to offer any suggestions it would be appreciated....PM me with anything ya got. camps, motels, good eats...heck any points of interest...good friendly bars (especially one with a good pool table! would be really appreciated by me and the Mrs).

Otherwise I'll just be suggesting based on what I can find online. I can't tell yet if I am going to have time for a scouting trip before the meet.

Thanks All.

The spot is set for you Home state. Check the post just before yours.
 May be a shorter drive than you thought.
Pin N Dig: Will do, I'll pencil in the date if it materializes. I think you're onto something, the event I'm going to in VA has been going on for 20+ years......there is a high level of interest, and the landowner certainly gets paid.

Hey all, Work has been a bit busy and research on lodgings has been slowed. I did get an old reproduction of a 1868 town map that came in the mail. I'd ordered it a while back when things were slower at work. I'm looking forward to seeing if it may have any clues on areas to hunt. I also read in some historic records on line that there was a very famous co. centered there that made Whaling ship gear. I will be keeping an open notch for HARPOONS!

 If the Shoe fits.... I'll put it on.

Won't be long till we can dig again up here bud. Last few days have been a tease. I can see ground and it thaws and it freezes and it thaws and freezes...

Were you thinking of camping Fri or Sat? I was talking to the Mrs and we will come up for both nights. Our plan is to dig that moon dust lake bed Sat.... and go back Sun if we get on some spots, or maybe try some of the settler homes marked on that old map for permissions if the lake won't put out for us.

I've been digging for about a week now, the ground is basically completely thawed out. Some fields have frozen spots. Well I'm definitely spending at least onenight for sure. I will have to find a motel/hotel because my wife and 3 1/2 year old daughter are coming along. But I'll hunt all night it don't matter to me lol i will most likely head home Sunday around moon. But will spend Saturday night there. I'll leave early Sunday as I have work at 4 But an considering taking that night off too. In the plus side I have an 1870's atlas of Worcester county so I have gotten pretty good at reading maps. Maybe we could do the dried out swim hole on Saturday and spend some time later on Saturday doing research for areas to do Sunday? Just a thought , love this idea!

Yeah... I know I've been wimping out. Blaming the cold that is. I used to be warm no matter what. My doc has me on blood pressure meds that changed that big time. I never knew what people meant till I started these things.

Sounds like a pretty cool plan as far as scouting around for sunday. I am thinking of a drive out this weekend. The Mrs. is in accounting so I am basically single during tax season. If I make it out I will be gathering some intel on accommodations. I really wanted to camp but so far the nearest through Reserve America is about 19 miles out. It's a darn shame there is another one really close that's closed for that week only... for some maintenance i assume.

I'll put a list of what I find on here after the scouting weekend. You and family are more than welcome to come out to enjoy a fire and retire to the motel later if you like. Just BYOC...(bring your own chairs)

it's still early; maybe they will have done what they need by then; seems strange to not be open so late...

Wife detecting with you? or?

Hey Ecoast,

Yep the Mrs. has expressed and interest so she will have her choice of the BH Land Ranger or a newer Titan 9000 to tryout If she enjoys it we'll see about an upgrade to a lighter MD for her. I have just started with an ATP.

To everyone else who may tune in,

I did get out to the site this weekend. It is unique to say the least. It's plain to see others have dug there, and even recently as the shapes of the clumps from holes showed. But the area is so massive that I am very sure n more is down there.

It will be well worth the trip if you are on the fence about joining us there.

During my scouting trip I just used my handheld Garmin to mark waypoints for points of interest so I will try to find time to turn the info into street addresses for a post regarding local accommodations and resources. More to come later.... but down the road later....

...due to the fact it is getting picked at present I don't plan to release the site until the date is much closer. Till then stay in touch and HH

Let me know when sweep and meet hunt is on and road trip is cool!

Will do Mr. Glass. I hope to catch up with you there to hear where you would do a bottle hunt when you see all the stone walls around the place. Seems like you get on em'.

Check in here around the end of April, at the latest. It gives the Locals a break from getting swamped in return for the generosity in sharing the spot. It really is pretty amazing. That time frame should be plenty of time for lodging reservations if you were thinking of staying a night.

Unfortunately I have had to give up on the camping, unless i can get another scouting trip there...if not we'll be staying at a local motel.

I can bottle hunt anytime but decting and meeting members from this site is cool. If doesnt happen iam ok with it. Let see if the website name live up too it hehe
