Nokta Impact information

Hi TNSS -

I just read Thomas Dankowski's thread on the Impact. He talks a lot about EMI and how Nokta worked during the beta to mitigate it.

What was your experience with it? Was it more susceptible to EMI than the ETrac and Deus?

Very comparable to Deus in 5khz and 14khz.
20 kHz seems to be where emi can be the most troublesome,,,these comments based solely on where I have used the Impact.

I have not had it in a metropolis,,,big cities.

Have had in one small town,,twice.

Have used the detector where light wires,,run on 3 sides of me.
Single phase btw,,,,not 3 phase.

In the small town,,there was 3 phase on the poles.

Thanks, that's good to know. I was out in a park with my ATP today with the Nel Sharpshooter coil and struggled with EMI. I moved to a ball field and it was fine.

I sounds like Nokta did a great job of listening to the feedback from their beta testers. Thank you for the time you put into testing the Impact. It'll be a better detector because of it.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your thoughts TSS.

I'll be looking to purchase in May and had been considering the Deus, but it seems from your comments that the Impact competes pretty well with it. It seems like the Deus offers a weight advantage and the ability to store your own programs. The Impact is less expensive, especially in the cost of additional coils.

How else would you contrast the two? Is the recovery speed of the Impact similar to the Deus?

If you were to guide an ATP user that loves both coin and relic hunting but wants to make a step up and has a $1500 budget to the Impact, or would you suggest the Deus or E Trac?

I wish I had the opportunity to try the three before I purchased, but I don't see that happening.

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts.

Hi, I am in the exact same boat as Donsell. I have an AT Pro and have enough money for either an XP Deus or the Impact pro package. I'm having trouble deciding between the two. I will be keeping the ATP as a backup and water hunter. Which do you think would be the best upgrade? Or in other terms, which would you take on a 3 month vacation if you could only take one to Wisconsin where at ATP ground balances at 88-90. I'm not sure if that is high or in the normal range. I was looking at the 11" coil package and was thinking of getting the new 9" elliptical while coil when it comes out. Now I mainly go to to trashy parks, homesteads and some fields. Mainly coin hunting with hopes of finding gold rings. With my ATP, I have the stock coil and the 5x8 and use the small one most of the time. My main reason for wanting to upgrade is because of depth. In my test garden the ATP can hit a 5" silver dime with both coils but not a peep @7" and Can't even hear a peep on a silver quarter at 7-8". My biggest fear would be getting one that isn't noticeably deeper/better in trashy sites and wasting money since I do like my ATP. No sense in having 2 of the same performers when I could put that money on an AR10 I've had my eye on. Any suggestions?

You are welcome.

Battery life should be simple---"I had to change the batteries after approximately X number of hours"-----Soooo give us an idea of battery life. I know different people will use it differently, but what has YOUR experience been.

Battery life,,I've been using rechargeables for a while now.

My recommendations to Impact users,,,get yourself a good set of rechargeables,,,and even a second set to take with you on all day hunts,,or carry a spare set of alkalines.

Propack package I think comes with one set of rechargeables.

The use of 5khz will drain the batteriew faster,,also using backlight,,and the vibration mode.

Two sets of batteries should do you for a long day's hunt.

,,and the vibration mode.

That's kind of cool. Can you set vibration independent from how you are running your tones? For example running full tones and setting vibration to run in let's say 3 tones?

How does the vibration work?

How does the vibration work?

It works based on disc and your notch filter settings..

So for example if you notch out a nickel ,,,and sweep a nickel no vibration.

You have iron disc out,,sweep a nail,,no vibration.

Now,,some ferrous wrap signals may produce vibration.

Vibrate mode,,when selected,,tones are still produced.
Also when vibrate feature is selected,,it carries over to other modes when they are selected.

Also,,this feature could be used even by folks with normal hearing,,,say hunting a big field where targets are sparse.
Vibration here could wake a person up when they strike a target,,better than tone maybe.

Got it makes sense thanks. What got me thinking was the discussion you were having in the other thread concerning full tones and 2, 3, 4, 5 tones on the XP (and benefits with running programs side by side to check).

I have studied the Impact detector from many angles.

There is absolutely nothing about it that is cheap feeling or looking.
Sturdy built detector,,with very good fit and finish.

When some purchasers get their hands on,,,we will see what they say.

The hand grip on the Impact detector,,,should be an industry standard,,,best feeling one I've had my hand around period. No exceptions!!

Checklist

Grip--- best I've seen.

Arm cuff-- sturdy and fully adjustable, with nice padding

Battery door-- positive fit,,when secured is actually secure

Shaft play-- none

Shaft wobble-- none

Coil fit-- no wobbles or looseness feeling when installed

Coil bolts-- sturdy,,seem to have a small degree of forgiveness,,not brittle

Coil covers-- good fit here,,not too tight or too loose

Coil cable connection very good fit,,positive engagement and user friendly

Coil ears-- very sturdy,,and allows for coil to stay in place with little coil bolt torque

Pinpoint switch-- nice location,,has positive feel

Screen-- good visibility, little glare

Backlight-- adjustable,,allows for plenty of illumination and then some

Control buttons-- very positive feel,, I have had no buttons hang up

Shaft camocks-- very positive acting,,seem to have low memory

Headphone jack--very positive feel when inserting and removing headphones Jack

Update port-- remove batteries,,easy access

Coil cable attachment at coil-- snug

Shaft movement when adjusting for length-- smooth

On off switch-- positive detent for off,,smooth on adjusting

Inserting and removing batteries--simple,,actual groove for battery removal
cord to lay, so as to not preclude proper battery door installation

Audio of external speaker-- solid with good tone nuance provided

Depth meter--in inches or cms,,update done to make more accurate,,still not spot on,,but a good guide(is driven by target size)

Vibrate feature-- adjustable and very functional

Detector clearance when layed on ground-- I rate good here,,detector stand is available to increase clearance if a person wants

Operator's manual-- can't rate yet,,is in the works,,I have seen draft,,can't comment yet though

Manufacturers support-- if anything like their previous models made-- extremely good.

Overall finish of detector-- I rate above average

Overall fit of detector-- I rate above average

Coil construction--- I don't see any evidence of any shortcuts done,,looks and performs as very well made

Shipping container/packaging-- can't comment,,my unit came in a Racer 2 box,,purchasers will come in Impact packaging

Software version update difficulty-- can't rate the exact system that will be used,,but if the system that I have used resembles what purchasers will be subjected to ,,,very simple process

" THE MOST POWERFUL ALL-ROUND METAL DETECTOR EVER MADE ! "

Oh my ! with three different frequencies. My T2 classic has 7 different frequencies and nearly half the price.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nokta-IMPAC...144113?hash=item3adb683a31:g:DtgAAOSwdGFYs8eI

I read up on the T2. It's a single frequency machine operating at 13kHz. You can adjust it from 12.82 kHz to 13.16 kHz, but that's to mitigate interference, not really change the characteristics of the detector.

The Impact has 3 frequencies, 5 kHz, 14 kHz and 20 kHz. So you have a much greater range of frequencies to use depending on your conditions and goals.

I a.m aware of that when posting the frequency channels in the t2 thread.thank you for clarifying that here though.

You're welcome.

Depending on user reviews of the Impact I'll probably get either the Impact or the E Trac. The Impact sound close enough to the Deus with much less expensive coil options.

Good luck in your purchase. There is a reason, the Deus is most popular, even with previous stated pricy coil options. From a monetary Track record view point. People lost a lot of money while selling the previously Turkish releases. It will be interesting to see if history repeats itself.

I would wait for end users to run final product to test new machine(Impact)
Some people are way overjealous in reviews!
Remember the "RACER" is was great till the masses actually used it!

Especially with the same person hyping it ...you'd think they would have learned
