new to metal detecting have not bought a unit yet wanted an un byis opion on what unit to start with onlimited budget

Ace series is AWFUL. Don't fall for it. Slow recovery speed (has to do with extended bell tone noise). Horrid pin pointing. Awkwardly unbalanced. Wears your forearm out fast. Bottom heavy.

A compadre is ultra simple yet very effective. An F2 would also be a good option. Heck I'd rather have a bounter hunter 202 over an Ace 250.

I can't help but to recommend the Tesoro Compadre, because it's the best detector made for the money hands down and it comes with a real lifetime warranty. It's not just for the beginner, people who have been detecting for many years still use the Compadre and swear by them. Also, Tesoro customer service is second to none.

I guess he didn't read your post  No location posted, didn't bother answering a question to assist in helping. I'm sure he'll find the perfect detector :p

What kind of hunting do you plan on doing? beach/dirt? water, fresh or salt? what kind of money do you want to spend? Might I suggest that you give more details so that we can help you, or you can contact one of the sponsors and they can give you a great deal.

Right now you can get Bounty Hunters former line up top dog, the TimeRanger, fir about 169.
My son just got one and loves it. Found a 45 Merc his very first time out with it.

In the not so distant past this was a 400 machine. Its been discontinued so they're at fire sale prices now.

Very light, with good features.
