Minnesota hunters?

On behalf of all Minnesotan's I just want to say thank you SeabeeRon. I personally have driven over that bridge hundreds of times and was last on it less than a week ago. I realize it could have just as easily been me or my family there when this tragedy happened. My prayers also go out to all those families that have been effected by this disaster.

Sounds like fun, my time is limited also. Mostly to weekends.

SeeBeeRon: Thanks so much. I used to live in Minneapolis, less than a mile from that bridge and have literaly been over it thousands of times. I still work in the Twin Cities and was at work when that happened. I work for Metro Transit and they notified us by radio right away after the collapse. I was not in that part of the city when it happened. I was lucky.

Hello All:
Just joined this forum although I have had it bookmarked for some time. I've been on two larger forums....... www.dfxonly.com (DFXDeadhead) and www.treasurenet.com (DFXDude) for two to three years. Been detecting since 2002 and started 6th year on May 6th, 2007. I have 2 DFX's and have standard, 5.3 eclipse, Bigfoot, Hotfoot and 12" Super coils. I've traveled to the two DFX get togethers in Ohio the last two years..... i.e. Peewee and McKinley Boy Scout camps. Found coins in 314 Zip codes and 22 states. I haven't seen another MD'er here in Renville County so I have it pretty much to myself. I hunt mostly public parks, playgrounds, schools and beaches with an occasional private property with permission. Been averaging about 3,000 coins per year, but only at 1,500 for 2007. A little over 16,000 since I started. Oldest coin is 1883 IH. I've only hunted with 2 Minnesota MD'ers, one from Sartell and another from Albert Lea. Have had contact with another one from Cottonwood and Mankato areas, but havent gotten together yet. I met another MD'er from Lastrup. You may be aware of it, but there is a Minnesota forum on www.treasurenet.com for Minnesota MD'ers. Happy Hunting all !
Butch

Welcome to this forum Butch! Even though I also post on DFXonly.com I consider this one home. Lots of great people here and I'm glad you finally climbed aboard. With all the recent Minnesota hunters we should try and put a Minnesota hunt together sometime. Keep us posted on your finds!

gopher mtg

hello people. i think im gonna try to attend that club meeting, i think nov 20 or something, tue. at 6:30-7 to start?? kinda a bad time for me as i work early, but will attend, dont know about joining.

well i posted a week ago on several places got no response, deleted posts. no biggie.

im a single guy who had too much free time and not enough exercise. This MD thing is working for me so far, having fun

if you are interested in hunting in tandem, perhaps this club mtg might be a good place to greet and exchange info. Or this site works too.

im mostly into coins, jewelry, relics, in that order. im not a coin collecter really, im just a cheap bastard who would pick up a penny anyway.

I have thought about joining the Gopher State club but the meetings are held on the third tuesday of the month in which I already have prior obligations on those nights. It is also a little bit of a drive for me and don't know if I can justify it to the wife to drive all that way. Maybe finding a park half way would work out sometime. Too bad the season is winding down already.

k

if you know of a spot halfway between northtown and your place, i can do that,
weekend is looking good for weather

54 cents from an archery range today, an archery token, a tool for 3or4 blade arrows... fun

This weekend is going to be tough because it is opener for deer hunting and I will be busy with that through the following weekend. We will have to see how the weather holds out after that.

minnesota

I'm from Minnesota. I just signed up a few day's ago. I live in Ottawa, across the river from St.Peter. As you maybe read, I have just recently took up the hobby again.

Hey gear box, Nice to see another Minnesotan on the forum. I was the only one for the longest time but now we have a handful. I just went back and read your intro post again and saw where you mentioned you were from Minnesota. By the way congrats on the nice old silver from the park. Better get back there soon as our season is almost done. :(

Hey Gearbox,

I live in Waterville, not too far from you. Just read the thread and if you are up for a dual hunt, we could get together (and freeze). Had a fun hunt today in the wind, and would be up for another one tomorrow (11/4) somewhere in our local area. Check out the "Stories and Pictures of FInds" area.

PM me if you are interested...

Dave

hi gearbox and laserfocus

i had fun today, got a good beer buzz going, then hit shamrock park (north of the arsenel) for day 3 of hunting!

this is where i found some good stuff before,.... hilarity ensued as i dropped my digging tool and it took 1/2 hour to find it, OMG ack

todays loot, another soccer medal, bronze i think. and 84 cents in change, with one of the dimes being a 1957!woot!! score

Hi gang I'm Don from West St. Paul, there are a few of us on the forum from MN. may be we will run into each other on our travels. Now that the Winter is closing in on us we will have to go else where or hybernate for a while.:wow:

Welcome to the forum Don! Lots of good folks here to share your finds with. I'm really hoping the weather holds out a little longer to get some late season digging in before the snow comes.

Welcome to the forums. I read your other post and it sounds like you had a really good summer of detecting. Looking forward to seeing a pic.

Time to get Minnesotans out again.

I'm located in the North Minneapolis suburbs area. If anyone wants to schedule a dual hunt get together let me know.

I'm fairly new to the hobby but am having fun getting out.

Let me know, lets see what we can find.

Adam
