....Knobs, Switches, Buttons.....

I like knobs the best because of jewelry hunting. Segment machines are heard to teak on small gold sometimes. I traded off a M6(my favorite) because I have wrist and shoulder problems. I was in the market for light weight TID machine when I saw this guy on You Tube do a demo on Tesoro Vaquero. He showed how to TID with the disc knob among other things. I thought I can do that and bought a Vaquero. Anyway it is all fun. HH

Well after alot of research I end up getting at pro. And the one and only reason this machine was my choice was waterproofing. I really liked the sand valleyball court we detected and I see beaches in the future. After using it for thr first time I can really feel the weight difference between it and the fisher f2.

If you want something with TID, tone ID, ground tracking and salt beach mode I also suggest you try the X-Terra 705. It's equivalent in performance to the MXT Pro and it's only a few ounces heaver than a typical Tesoro. I like the 28 tone ID, the salt beach (I live in FL) and ground tracking (makes detecting easier). The automatic noise cancel is handy too if there are lots of detectors around or high power lines nearby. Sometimes you can't even see the powerlines because they are burying them nowadays. The 705 automatically finds the quietest channel to detect on. Ground balancing is easy, you switch to all metal, press the ground balance button, then press the mode button (brings up automatic function) and you pump the coil a few times and you get a tone when it's done. Then you choose one of the four discrimination patterns which can be factory set ones or your own custom ones. When the sun goes down you simply turn on the backlit screen and you're set for a night hunt.

I would say stick with fisher if not go with a xt505 they are a really nice machine just a step down from the 705
Yep the 505 is a sweet machine. For me it was a toss-up between f5 and X Terra 505. The ability to change frequencies on the X Terra with a simple coil change. is what won me over The display is so huge, you can probably be legally blind and still see the numbers!

yep, the at pro is a LOT heavier than the f2. when i upgrade, i'm almost positive i'm going f5 because i like just about everything about fisher detectors. :)
