I've about had it with the BS finds posts

I am more concerned about the higher numbers of lying politicians and people in positions of importance than the occasional lying detectorist .

Yeah, I don't get why people BS on this forum.....What's the point?

I think part of it is that newbies get into this hobby when they see one of those "reality" treasure shows on TV and decide that nobody ever gets skunked. Everybody makes great finds every trip. It's on TV, it must be true!

So they spend a few hundred bucks on a detector, they find pulltabs, and they can't let anyone know what a failure they are. So they fake it with false finds.

Remember, the only difference between a "reality" show and a fictional show is that in the reality show, the actors are uglier.

If they wrote several books, went behind i think it was 18 other detectorists, including a few of your friends you know for a fact are good at detecting, and post the hand full of gold they all missed same hunt when nobody else found any, placed on a detector screen, its best to just:roll:
If you don't like liars, don't ever join a fishing forum. Secret to making a fish look big is take the pic close up. And don't ever put the fish against a ruler. Someone i know caught what would have been a record speckled trout. They didn't have any pics. and ate the fish for supper.

um

From the land of the Bluenose.....after 42 years in this hobby just about any find is possible! However having said that why post things that you didn't find. Only a hobby albeit the greatest one.

Take everyone at their word here and again......only a hobby!

JMHO! I see and read lots of posts on here and sometimes feel that wow That is a lot of silver finds or ETC also I see a poster on another forum and want mention which one that keeps a tally going on Rings found and every day a new ring is found and it adds up daily not saying he or she is not finding them just seems a little far fetched at times I have my self hunted many Parks and sand lots and yet to find a ring except junk rings and costume jewelry , with that being said am now starting to water hunt and will see if my jewelry finds improve . It is a great feeling to find that first great find as I a couple months back post my first Barber dime find in over 8 yrs of metal detecting matter of fact found two the same day odds of doing that are well you choose the math I guess it would depend on the area and the history Hope each and all find gold and silver as soon as you can for me I am in pursuit of that first Gold Ring :Dto Finance my second AT Pro as a back Up to my Other AT Pro LOL

What did it ring up as? :D

Last 2 ships I found rang up as 747s ;)

Wednesday I actually was going to post a pic of all my finds that day. I went back to a park to pick up finding more clad where I left off, left with one '81 penny and half a pouch full of assorted pull tabs nails and foil. Not to mention the cans nicely prepared by a lawnmower.

Two years ago the mods were getting on to the ones calling BS. 6 mos ago this guy on here got caught planting finds and lying that he had permission at sites he was taking other members to then he offed himself. Be careful what you say to people.

I dare anyone to call BS on my finds today ;)

This looks like my finds.. lol minus the coins ahahah

I didn't find the opening post helpful at all. Thought it was a little self centered and ranks right up there with American Digger. Why would you even make a comment like that? If someone makes what you might think is a "BS Find", what business is it of yours to police it? Or anyone else for that matter? The person that steps in here and makes that kind of a comment is more of a trouble maker than any post of finds that might be suspect. Keep your posts clean and straight and that should be all you have to worry about. Like kids in a sandbox.

Because some have a need to fit in when they are nothing more than narcissistic blowhards

Sometimes I have to consider people's feelings . Some of you do not live in a populated area that has a few hundred years of activity and history.

If you can not find 6 buck's of clad in a 3 hour hunt there are only a couple of reason why you failed. #1 too lazy to dig everything that could be hiding a good target. #2 do not know what you are doing(and with this site that should not happen unless you are as described in the first line) #3 maybe it is just not there.

I have dug thousands and thousands of holes and found maybe 8 or 9 gold finds. In the same thousands and thousands holes I have dug over 100 silver coins. This has taken 14 months. I have dug 1500 bucks in clad. I miss very few days.

Granted I'm retired and have plenty of time to research and hunt. I also am getting very good at this. I'm not lazy or stupid so I can do well. I have been skunked in the past but I do not get all butt sore at the workers and the excellent hunters that make finds here when I do not. Their finds motivate me.

I was accused a week or so ago by some butt sore individual of padding my finds(faking or lying I'm still not sure.) What this joker does not know is how little I know about coins. Almost every good find is the first time I ever heard of or seen the coin. Instead of getting all butt sore maybe just get some better equipment and do the research. Do not take short cuts. Try digging iffy signals and remove iron to uncover coins. Find out why you are failing or just ask the guys that are consistently excellent on this site how they do it. I have done this countless times here.

Do not kick the workers backs in. That is what lazy and unproductive people do. They put down the good workers and wreck their creditability so they can sleep good even knowing they are lazy.

Good luck and do take what I said to heart.

Use to get upset that a member for 4 months could be an elite member. Then it hit me that I could be an elite member if I responded to every newbie. Not my way. Only want to post if I have something to ask or say. Those that are looking for a title on the site, don't care. They don't usually have anything to say anyway.

BS posts

One of the replies to this post referred to a newbie posting a really good find- I -started mding about 3 yrs ago,-- and on my second outing I scored an eagle button in really great shape--took it to the next club meeting to show it off--- I found it along an old rocky dirt road --it was buried only in small pebbles no dirt---while at the meeting I overheard someone talking about it--saying I've dug those before and they never come out of the ground lookin like that!! Well he was wrong and I knew it------ but I sure didn't like being called a liar!!:( So I guess the moral of the story is--just because you don't believe it is a legit find--DOESN'T MEAN IT ISNT!! There is really only one guy on the forums (beach hunting forum at least) that I think is faking finds... I won't say his name... but it rhymes with Barry Crayton...

The rest that post a gold finds almost every hunt, I think are just extremely blessed to have untouched hunting spots... most of them not being in America.

That's not BS... just S;) The more than typical hunt for most! Some people just "have" to one up others. As fun as it is to "play along" sometimes (I have had a good many chuckles on some responses to these "glory hogs), it is best just to ignore them.
That being said, it is the beauty, or ugly, of a forum like this. And in life in general. It takes all kind, and like it or not, we all gotta "live" together. So, do what you can to support each other. Some of the finds on here (and some of you folks) just amaze me and motivate me. I know there are BS finds here, but the world if full of BS'rs. Fact of life. Best of luck to us all in this great hobby. Do n ot let others ruin it for you

So, THAT'S why I keep getting offers to do reality shows!
