That's against the law - defacing government property... but it looks really cool.

Actually I dont think it is. I saw a show called modern marvels that was about coins, and they said you can anything yoy want with the money, because it is yours, however, once it is defaced like that, it now becomes a novelty coin, and has no monetary value.

Thanks everyone for your comments/compliments!

BMK, I like that, very cool!

Coin, glad I was able to spark that interest, good luck if you try it, we'd all like to see your results!

check this site

Do a google search on lindsey engraving theres some hobo
Nickles there but this guy is a master and does outsranding work.
Some very cool stuff on thier site.

the images speak for themselves. I am no hobo nickel maker. It was only my first try and I am using an inferior dremel style tool, so maybe I will try again and it will come out a little better.

Actually very cool...good job!

Heres my hobo coin. anyone know what something like this is even worth. I cant find any info on it.

If it is an original, could be a lot.

Man wish I was an artist but just one of them things some can and some can't got to have the tallent for it.Something I don't have.
I tried painting a fence post once and screwed it up.

There was a thread on here a while back about hobo nickels. Someone posted the link digger27 just did, it's a great web site. Some unbelievable stuff there. There are a lot of them on ebay too.

Well I havn't come across a hobo nickel yet but from the ones I have seen on here and on the internet I would love to find one.

The only cool coin art coins I have found are a buffalo nickel and a standing liberty quarter

The picture makes the quarter the same size as the nickel for some strange reason.

I like all i've seen so far. Dammit, i have a dremel and tons' o bits in my basement, and this thread is makin' me itch to go carve up a few nickles. Nice work there, folks!
