Be careful out there!

this weekends low tides aren't so great and as the whole year so far has been, it's in the early AM hrs of the night. Heaviest is to hit beginning to mid week and next weekends lows are about a foot lower. You know I'll be in the water next weekend for sure. Bring the RayGuards!

Yes, next weekend's lows are lower and early morning. There is also the possibility of another hurricane swell (Sergio) arriving Friday with 6+ft. waves. :workforgold:

Stay put.. I'll let you know how the hunting goes. :p Besides the bathrooms are MUCH better down south.
 oh man well sounds like its gonna be a good chance at some targets if we can find some productive beaches & in Your case Clean Bathrooms are Key lol  but ya its all sanded in up here too really bad

Romy! Hard to say where the sand is going to move but the local surf forecast looks just as promising as the one down south. The beach orientation will be a key factor I believe. PM sent!
Yeah your right seems like the south facing beaches will be good from here south so lets get some Gold :D Checking Pms Next ;)
Yes. It was terrible up here too. No good surf/swells coinciding with good tides. The surfer website forecast charts, were always so abysmal, that I think I only got out, TO EVEN LOOK, just a time or two. Contrast to the year before that, where some beaches did get kissed by mother nature.

Hey, but look at the bright side romy : You did discover that inter-bay harbor beaches (where it's less susceptible to sand ins & outs, since it doesn't face the open ocean). I really enjoyed that video !
Yeah its been horrible all around my summers finds compared to last year were
Dismal, the quality was there just not quantity anyways ya the spots been hit so hard i have trouble finding a fishing sinker now lol, I did make like six videos there and im sure a lot of people figured it out  oh well but i did manage to hit a spot i over looked the other day and got a few wheaties and a good sized silver ring and half a 30's lead submarine so that spot was good while it lasted but until some big off shore winds move some sand there will have to look for some more over looked spots ;) Thanks bud glad ya enjoyed the hunts they were fun to film ;)

If anyone else needs a detecting buddy let me know. It’s lonely and dangerous to be out there in the wee hours.

I tried again tonight and got skunked.
Where there was once exposed rocks, is now covered.
Noob question: Can a storm bring sand onto the beach?

I went out last night for an all nighter. I went out later than earlier because I hate hunting when there are still people on the beach after dark.. Anyways, I ended up hunting at the top of the lower high tide of the day and ended up getting skunked except for a couple coin spills. Having gone to this beach for about 4 years know and taking mental notes of landmarks, I'm about 3 ft sanded in. It was not good. It was one of those bleak hunts where you left the house tired to begin with and kind of looking like this  but I just wanted to get out and it was at least peaceful. I took the CTX instead of the NOX and had the 17" coil.. I sure paid for it.. I feel like I was cross training. I forgot how GOD dang heavy that bastard is compared to the NOX. One good thing is that I didn't have to stop every 5 seconds to scoop a piece of foil the size of the tip of an ink pen. Even with my MineLab harness it was still beyond heavy. I feel like this today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-MolLKJZCw

.... and im sure a lot of people figured it out  ....

Yes. You left enough clues in the video, that someone could figure which beach it was. I found it, just for kicks & giggles. But since I'm 5 hrs. from there, the information didn't do me any good. But .... perhaps some So. CA guys figured it out, and gave those beaches a whirl ?

That's what happens when people blast videos 2x a week on YouTube... Ya give up all the secrets and let the devil in your home.

On another note though: I remember a few yrs ago I would find at least 7 bucks in change and pretty much a ring (silver usually ) on EVERY hunt. Sometimes multiple rings. Always stayed busy....

Then 2 yrs ago we got hit with HARD erosion and we cleaned up. The beaches had so many freaking MD'er's that it was a joke. Looked like down town traffic at 5pm. Then last yr just plane sucked. Terrible erosion and it was a cold (for CA) season.
All the pulled out sand came back in filtered and clean of everything. Trash included.
Now I can walk a beach.. any beach.... and not get a single tone for an hr or more. I'll be lucky to get 2 bucks in change on a good night. Rings are bleak.. They are still there but it's bleak..
I used to hunt 4x a week and ea hunt was a good 5-8 hrs... Now I hunt maybe once a week and its about a 3 hr hunt. I've learned that if the beach is sucking, don't waste your time. I hunt smarter now not harder ... With that said. the last 3 hunts have been utter skunk jobs. In fact Im typing this with sand feet because I just got home from a beach that I normally do pretty well at and in 3 hrs I got 1 quarter and 4 times... What a joke... I sure hope winter erosion is good this yr.

.... Ya give up all the secrets and let the devil in your home.....

Low-tide : But wouldn't you agree that there are some times, when erosion has been so significant (ie.: beeps everywhere you swing, that you will simply not be able to exhaust), that it would almost be foolish NOT to invite your buddies.

I used to jealously guard any beach location that was "going off". And would clue maybe a single friend into it. 2 days later (or whatever), it's all over. Sanded back in. And we realize we left THOUSANDS of targets un-recovered. And .... 10 or 20 yrs. later, we've never seen that section of beach eroded again.

Or conversely, you find out a week later, that your buddy was working a killer eroded beach (with in-exhaustible target supply) , and .... he waited till it was sanded back in, before telling you anything. Gee, some buddy, eh ?

Yes I realize that there are some sites (especially land sites with limited oldies) that it is not good to blab. But there are some other times (beach erosion, for instance), where .... I think the tit-for-tat tip-sharing is totally appropriate. If someone wishes to be a "lone-ranger", that's fine. But then when it comes time to wonder which beach is getting eroded, ....then ironically ... they're sure to be the first ones to call you and say "where's the action?". Because a single person can't try 50 miles of beach length all by yourself in a single day's low tide.

The locals and retiree’s can just check the beach everyday. Others are luck of the draw. Im looking at webcam videos of the wave action at my beaches and don’t see anything special this Tues am. Don’t see how there could be much erosion yet. Is it still to come or is it a miss?
I dont see how we should get our hopes up on beaches that we know have had the sand sucked and replaced twice or so over the last year. There have been heavy target days when the wave action throws targets in small area concentrations but I haven’t hit one of those in a couple years.

Rosa was moving a lot of sand at a beach I scouted out yesterday. I watched huge chunks of sand falling into the ocean as powerful 10ft plus waves tossed surfers around like rag dolls. After a couple of hours of fighting the high tide I decided to come back at night during the low tide.
I called Romy and we met at that spot about an hour before the "low". The low was suppose to be about a .9ft but the storm surge kept the waves on our heels throughout the hunt. We found a fair amount of targets but Romy scored the only TREASURE (but I won't steal his thunder!).
I don't know if Romy noticed but as we were hunting, the sand was already being deposited with the incoming tide. Low on the slope my feet were starting to sink deeper and deeper. Talk about a small window...but we hunted just at the right time. GL& HH!

VERY VERY TRUE

However 90% of the turnout aren't buddies. They are you tubers who saw a video , recognized or figured out the location and either took a V day at work and or flew in thinking it was the gold rush of 1848.. It's a story as old as the pirate days. That's all I'm saying. We have a group down here of about 10 of us that keep ea other in the loop.. I totally get the YouTube frenzied trend for income and simply even the fun of it. I just ask for NO LANDMARKS or names of the places.. Take TheHooverBoys on Youtube for instance. They NEVER give their locations... And they simply KILL IT over and over again. I think Video's are awesome.... I've made a few myself and after the first few I learned to not blast where I found things.... There are PLENTY of crafty ways to keep it on the down low

Got the picture from Romy this morning.. DANG brotha.. Another score....As for me, 3 days with zilch.... Last night I literally spent 4 hrs and I got 1 quarter and 4 dimes... It was rather pathetic...And I wasn't about to get in the water where I was... Little 2 foot power surges that would knock you down, steal your wallet and insult your momma. So tempting to walk the low tide out.. Then RUN your tail off as the water came plowing in to bash in your skull.... Fun watching the drunks though....:laughing:
