Welocme Dick.........I know exactly how that gold dollar got in the UK. Last time I was there I lost it, and I want it back!!  Happy Hunting!

Dick.....don't believe Don....I'm telling you.....my great, great great grandfather lost it!!!!!!

BTW - I have to brag a bit....ha! This is what I found today CRH at a bank. I went in asking for halves and the teller next to the one I was dealing with said she had 18 large dollars (Ikes) so I asked to see them. She had them in a white envelope that they put paper money in because she didn't have any large dollar wrappers and when I laid them out I saw this baby.....a 1921 Morgan dollar!!!! I immediatly told her I would buy them...paid for the 4 rolls of halves they had and $18 for the large dollars and ran out of there.....my husband was waiting in the truck for me & when I got in he said I came out of that bank so quick he thought I had robbed it....lol. I am still walking about a foot off of the ground.....wahoooooo!!!

That is freakin awsome! I always ask for large coins at the bank and my best is a silver kennedy :(. Congrats on the bank heist!

You've done good girl! Excellent display of hit 'n run at the bank.

Ours doesn't keep any halves or dollar coins. Heck I stopped there yesterday
and asked if they had any of the new Washington dollar coins and got a dirty
look. After a couple of seconds of .... that look, she said that the bank doesn't
order them.

I don't believe your luck Lejeuene. Guess I need to hit the banks some more. Even though I'm jealous, I'm happy for you just the same.

Thanks guys.....Yes I felt pretty lucky actually. I think it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

I am still wondering why this coin got cashed in :?:. Possibly it was in the middle of the stack of Ikes & never really looked at :?:. When they were cashed in and if looked at individually you would think a teller would have snatched it.

Another one of those things that make you go hmmmmmmmm????????

My sister used to work at a bank, and she told me alot of elderly people cash in the old stuff. Needing money, and not really knowing the value of them, they just want quick cash. That's one possibility.

That is sad Don....makes me feel bad. I sure hope that is not how this got there.

Now that would be totally cool to come across. Unfortunately the local coin dealer here in town has an ongoing request with all the banks to set something like this aside for him. Don't give the little guys like me a snowballs chance in H**l  BTW, WTG!

Unbelievable !! My next door neighbor is a branch manager for a bank, guess I need to have a talk with him !!!!

My wife used to work in the bank and had purchased some halves way back then. I just might hit my local banks this week . . .! :!:

Hey lejeuene, nice hat!

She must have come across quite a few I'm sure.....any idea what the oldest one she has?

You like my hat???? Thanks alot.... ;)

Lejeuene, you shouldn't feel bad about getting the old silver, even if it was brought in by someone desparate for $. Be happy that it's you instead of someone else who is going to take it right out and sell it to profit. At least it's in the hands of someone who enjoys the coin for reasons other than wanting to make a fast buck.

Well Don if you put it like that.......when you mentioned an old lady or couple in a previous post it I was just hoping that an elderly person/couple didn't cash it in for the buck. Believe me I am happy....ecstatic actually.....As for making a fast buck....not me....I am not selling any of these coins I find CRH'ing. I think I will just give them all to my grandchildren when they are of age. I should have a nice little stack by then.

I have not sold any coins either. BUT......it is a possability that when I retire I just might auction off my coin collection. I am sure though that I will give a few special coins to the kids.

Good idea Don.

I think I am going to just give my collection to my grandchildren.

I also think it is time to close out this thread. It has been running long enough. What do you think?

Yeah.........I agree, we should end this thread.......all good things gotta come to an end. Chat with yah in another thread everyone.
