help me! V3I or E-trac

Technically it may only read one frequency at a time, but the next frequencies are read a millisecond later. The frequencies are processed faster than you can swing, effectively making it a multi-frequncy detector.

It is a multi freq detector but I am just saying that the V3i does 3 at once so it has a bit of an edge. the E-Trac is still great I am not saying that at all

If this were debate club you might win the debate, but I think you are missing the point. Just like the Etrac reads frequencies one at a time, television only displays one picture at a time, but the user is unaware.

I see what your saying, but just because only one number shows up doesnt mean that three freq's arent being read. When I pull the pin point trigger it shows which of the signals is the strongest and I can also hunt where it shows all three signals at one on a graph.

Yes that is a very nice feature and I will most likely sell my Etrac for a V3i maybe this summer. Seeing which frequency is dominant on the V3i is pretty much a visual way for the user to interpret FE content. The Etrac does this automatically and the results are represented by the FE number. Bottle caps and quarters have the same CO number on the V3i but the dominant frequencies are opposite. They may have the same CO number on the Etrac too, but the FE number is higher for bottle caps.

I was looking at both detectors for about 3 months and I finally came to the conclusion that the V3i was for me. I like the setup, durability and the awesome costumer service from whites

I was on for an Etrac,,, then switched to the V3i,,,, and back to the Etrac (love the "deep silver" it gets and it's supposed to be tops at discrimination ),,, but now I'm back on the V3i cuz I think WTF who needs the deepest silver if I'm missing ALL the small items ALL the time with the Etrac,,,, is the V3i as good as the Etrac at target separation ya think? Not to mention I think in my country I would like to look for small placer gold,,,, Etrac is no good there HELP ME I can't afford both and want it ALL !!!!

If you want to hunt a bit of everything then the V3i is the better machine. Besides it has a deep silver program as well and I have found 3 silver coins this year alone.

Here are screen shots of iron and non ferrous targets using the amazing Polar Plot feature of the V3i.

Iron will read in either the NW quadrant or below the equator on the polar plot screen.

how well does it do on small gold nuggets ? not as well as the GMZ I'm guessing

Like I said in my original reply...if you are interested in finding small gold and old pewter buttons the V3i blows away the E-Track. Being that the GMZ is 50 KHz, my guess is that the GMZ is even more sensitive to small gold and the coil is better for highly mineralized ground. But the GMZ is not a good coin and relic detector, as it is not sensitive to higher conductive targets like silver and copper.

is this fair?'

Not to bash any one company, but if you do have a problem, White's Customer Care is much easier to deal with, and you will usually get your detector back in a week or two. I have heard horror stories about Minelab.

Also I would say that the V3i is highly customizable with discrimination settings. I could even set mine up to ignore clad dimes and quarters without missing the silver ones. (Not that I would ever do this, but it is possible)

Hey KellycoChick!
I'm almost positive I will go with Kellyco! I'm very impressed with the things I've heard about your deals and customer service! I am hoping to place an order within the next month or so! I really hope you guys can make me a good deal on the the v3i w/wireless hp, I'm not wanting all of the extra stuff! But I also want a good deal on a good water machine! So thank you very much for the advice! Dan
I"m here! Just holler when you are ready :)

The E-Trac, out-of-the-box will get you going like a pro.

Since you are in NJ, placer gold and the sort shouldn't matter methinks.

I love them both to consider any one of them my next detector.

5 year warranty is nothing to snear at

I'm in Northern California and surrounded by piles of riverbed that were turned over with big bucket dredges along with hillsides that were washed down by hydrolic mining,,,,, me thinks there is gold here for me !!! I can't afford TWo 1500 dollar machines and want to think this may be my last detector I will need and the V3i is so very versatile it makes me edge out the Etrac,,,, ahhh very tough decision

Kellyco is the way to go(ryhmes too) Best price fast shipping and super friendly sale people.I ordered my V3i a few weeks ago and was impressed with Kellyco.Happy Hunting,Ken
