For You Smokers Who Want To Quit

As of Monday I will be smoke free for a month because of this e cig. I don't even want cigarette anymore. I mainly started because of the ridiculous taxes on tobacco here in MN. Up to $9 a pack for certain brands!!! But I also switched cause I was just getting tired of the smelly cigarettes.
After using the e cig on the first day I tried a regular smoke to see what it tasted like and man it tasted like a$$! No urge to smoke one since then. The flavors that you can get with the e cig are awesome and a huge selection to boot. Now I'm waiting for our government to find something wrong with this awesome invention, like they always do. Or they'll start taxing this to death too. But I'm happy I switched to the e cig and recommend it to anyone smoking!

I'm also saving a ton of money!

Went and got my Blu starter kit today (I used it before and enjoyed it more than the eGo one I've tried.)

Thank you for the inspiration! :)

Yep. There are lots of different types out there and what I use is not for everybody.
Thanks for posting and GL.

Everyone Please quit smoking before you have major health problems and it costs you a fortune. smoking ended up costing me 250,000.00 in medical bills after I had my heart attack. and is still costing me money in medical bills so for everyones health and the health of others your around please quit smoking. I ended up quiting cold turkey when I quit back in 2002 ( Heart attack and spent over 1&1/2 months in hospital) and haven't picked a cigarette back up since. infact the smell of smoke makes me sick to my stomach and this is comming from someone who used to smoke up to 4 packs a day.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive. I'm sick of cigarettes. I hope the e-cig works, then I can encourage my Mom to give it a try.

And another day smoke free:grin:
That's terrific. One more day and you should be over the hump. Keep it up and thanks for the update.
You will start feeling better very soon.

I have been working on my sis to quit and she told me today she had 1 cigarette and used the e-cig the rest of the day.

Yeah it works well, I use the eGo system with a Clearomizer. It works well. Vanilla flavors are easy to like, if you can't decide what to start out with.

I went all day today with the e-cig, even while out detecting at my aunt and uncle's house (they are heavy smokers) I was tempted to ask for a cigarette but didn't, stuck with the e-cig.

I'd call that a great day even though we dug nothing but zincs and trash. :p

Hang in there. The first three days are the worst.

My parents and one grandfather were smokers, so that programs our brain to think it's okay to smoke. Well it's not okay. Break that chain for you and everyone around you.

Please keep us posted.

I made it 2 days with my old e cig but then the battery quit taking a charge. I switched to gum with 1 or 2 real cigarettes per day until I can get out to pick up a new e cig.

The RoadRunner... I hope that what I am about to say doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. Replacing tobacco cigarettes with electronic cigarettes is not quitting. Of course smoking electronic cigarettes is not as bad as smoking tobacco cigarettes but, it is still smoking.

Read my earlier post about dropping the nicotine level and also the point that i mention that you can end up as addicted to ecigs as you are cigarettes.
It is entirely down to the individual to realise that you have not kicked the habit, you have just changed the way you get a nicotine fix.
The difference with ecigs is that, you get your fix without the inclusion of carcinogens and an abundence of other nasties!
E-cigs are meant to be a way to give up smoking, nicotine and everything that comes with it, not a way to give up cigarettes and end up chuffing away on an ecig for the next 30 years.
Set yourself a goal... I wish i had, but i'm halfway there. This time next year and i'll be nicotine free, i've promised that to myself.
BTW, it's not smoking.... It's Vapor NOT smoke.
As an ex smoker, are you bitter that all you had was to go cold tukey when you gave up? This is a big breakthrough for "us" smokers to give up in a controlled and workable fashion. Don't knock it. People complained for years that we ruined the air they breath in bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants and when a viable alternative comes along, they all kick us in the butt with that too!
This goes to anyone else BS this thread.
We never wanted to be smokers, it was a cool thing to do when we were kids. Regret... Yes of course, just DON'T start on the ones trying to stop ok.
Go find another thread worthy of an argument.

I am in no way bitter, I have nothing to be bitter about. As I said before quitting cigarettes was easy for me to do, because I decided that I no longer wanted to smoke.

If by "start on the ones trying to stop" you mean that I shouldn't point that a person who is TRYING to stop will most likely fail then my words will probably fall on deaf ears.

I am not trying to argue with you or anyone else I am merely pointing out the FACT that you can't TRY to quit, either you quit or you don't. I know this first hand because I TRIED to quit several times and failed, and I know others who did the same thing. The few people that I know who actually quit did it cold turkey. I know some people who are TRYING to quit and have been vaping for over a year. After a year I wouldn't call it TRYING to quit, I would call it trading one nicotine delivery system for another one. I know a man who has been using nicotine gum for 10 years!

The point that I am trying to make is when a person says they are TRYING to quit they are giving themselves an out because it is ok to fail as long as they are TRYING. IMO the best way to quit is to decide that you no longer want to smoke and that you ARE going to quit. For those few that are able to use ecigs or anything else as a temporary aid to quitting and actually quit I say: HOORAH THAT IS GREAT!!!!!!
