Finally got the Holy Grail of Indian Heads! 1877!

Yes, my dad and brother are going to clear the area of saplings, scrub brush and fallen branches and then my dad is going to mow the entire area with a Bush Hog. I will definitely be detecting the site again in the future. Right now it's so difficult to swing the detector that it's truly a miracle that I was able to find anything. I'm sure there are more coins and relics there.

Yes, part of the word AMERICA is missing on the obverse. I don't think it's worn that way, I think maybe it was caused by a weak strike, or perhaps part of the die was filled with grease.

Cool! I thought it looked like it may have been a die issue. Wouldn't that make it worth more?

TTC...amazing finds, and two none the less. I did as well this morning found my first ever IH, and broke into the 1800's, and twice as well ! A 1892 & 1896, must be IH time. I thought taking 6 years for me was a long time..CONGRATS sir!

Very nice find! And no more rubbing! Or toothpicks. It can and will scratch the coin. My suggestion is to soak it in 100% pure acetone. It will have no affect on the coin but will remove any organic material on the coin. You can get a bottle at most drug stores for about 2 dollars
