Fill your holes on the beach PLEASE

I don't think I could walk away from an open hole, just something I learned at a young age, made a lot of sense.

Usually, people don't just look at their feet while walking, so many other interesting things to look at.

Don't remember ever seeing clam diggers filling in their holes though...

I don't because I believe in "clean energy" Throw dishsoap on, "wash/rinse" with said liquid, and let dry Saves water and the electric bill

A number of years ago I came across someone with your attitude on the beach... There were joggers and kids playing in the dry and wet sand this guy was digging and leaving his holes... I was new to the beach scene but I always did my best to fill my holes... I asked him to fill his holes and he told me something I can't repeat here... I did not confront him instead I found a park ranger and told the ranger how dangerous it was if someone fell in a hole or could break a ankle and he agreed.. I took him to the guy hunting and the ranger kicked him out of the beach and told him never to return... they took down his licence plate and personal info..

Think about the jogger or walker... its really easy to fill the holes you dig.

FWIW. I was detecting one day at the beach and watched two guys talking with dogs. This one guys dog digs a hole. Well a few later when they moved down a bit a man and woman were jogging. The woman steps in the hole and tumbles and is stunned a bit. I go over and tell them whose dog dug the hole in case shes hurt. You have to worry about the same thing . You got eyes watching you at the beach. Someone gets hurt and has a witness to what happened, you best hope they don't use your local TV lawyer. Ours loves to settle out of court for 50 grand. Save that crusty clad

On a low tid line it can depend on the beach. At the very least an effort should be made to make it safe for people especially other treasure hunters. Where I hunt its a race to get the scoop in if need be because the holes just collapse in. It's not always like that. Sometimes you need to put the effort in so someone dosen't break their ankle. hh gl -Joe

I went to a beach near Jax today and saw the same thing. Actually saw the guy doing it. As soon as he saw me he left but left all his holes open, dozens of them. DISGUSTING! He was also leaving the pennies outside of the holes. Seriously? Take them and threw them away at least

It was low tide and he was digging up at the higher tide line. Meaning ALL his holes would sit open for hours. SHAME ON YOU!!!

I hunted the beach yesterday and found a ton of beer caps/pull tabs/bobby pins and other assorted garbage. Found one dime and it made my day!

I throw all the garbage I find away in the nearest trash can.....leaving pennies outside the hole seems to be the definition of an a-hole.

Got a question for you Vegas, how long have you been detecting on the beach? I was just wondering. Let me just say this if someone twist their ankle from your hole and they see you leaving them, you're going to have to deal with it. And further more you make us all beach hunters look bad in doing so. It's only obvious that children and parents playing, building castles making holes etc. that's to be expected. But doing this as a hobby and knowing things can occur ie. Injuries. A different story. I actually saw a little old lady fall from someone's hole I don't know if it was left from a child or what. People don't always look down at the ground when walking or jogging, their looking at the scenery. Just wanted to give a little advice. Now you got it, do what you want with it.

I think you are just pulling these guys chains. No way can you be so arrogant as to leave holes all over the beach. Yes, kids dig holes but you are an adult. For the same reason golfers rake the sand traps after use, you need to fill your holes. It is not just for the enjoyment and safety of others but it also gives people a positive impression of our hobby. Maybe you can rethink your attitude and do what is right. Otherwise maybe you should find another hobby because doing what is right is important and it seems you could care less.

Fill holes on the beach YES. Too many runners etc. out there early like me. My kids are runners too so I wouldn't want one them to twist an ankle.
