Ever wonder whether those were really found yesterday, or found at all?

Why can't I open this page? Its telling me I don't have permission to access???

Yes, the thread was deleted. Basically, a new member posted several very rare civil war finds, one of which was "one of a kind". Unfortunately for him I knew the person who found that one, and sent them an email. So the hilarity of the thread was when the actual finder of the "one of a kind" piece signed up to chew them out. HAHA. He was a lot nicer than I would have been if someone tried to take credit for one of my finds.

Is it possible that people really do find gold coins with their metal detectors ??

Of course it is. Is it probable? No. Is it probable that they will find several? Even less. Is it probable that they find several, of different and unrelated types? Less still. And if they're a new poster with a fishy story of the find (or no story at all)? Forgetaboutit.

First I would like to know the odds of finding three as I am a gambling man and may want to place a bet and second I was making a joke..
That's my hand in the picture GT :p

I'm gonna work on the different and unrelated types in the upcoming months

Absolutely Big Pappa, And those coins are awesome. The thread I was referring to has popped up again and although the coin is well over 100 years old and has spent its life on the beach, aside from a couple of small nicks it is pristine. I found a gold coin yesterday, you can see it in the coinshooters page.

Nectar You are digging some old threads here. May have to get you over to Lens Crafters  :p But on that note there are a few posts from time to time I really wonder about.

They're out there.......sad to say.......
If someone needs attention from internet strangers he doesn't even know then that's just sad........not a whole lot we can do about it.......
bout a month ago some newbee posted a 1700s silver on here he claimed hes found at low tide along the cliffs or something???
I enjoyed reading all the forum members pick him apart.......
haven't seen any posts from him lately.......

I remember one that couldn't have been fake... Remember the gold chain at the base of the tree that took days to dig out? Maybe a gold coin accompanied it even.. That was real for sure...

Vlad jacked the forum up and this post came up in new posts is why I replied to an old post or I wouldn't have brought it back up, my bad

On the same subject, and I may have mentioned this before ?

We used to have a member of my club, who whenever we went out on
club digs, would always make a lot of good finds.

Then he went on a detecting rally, and put one of his finds on the table at a
club meeting, for the find of the month competition.
Only thing was, one of our more observant members who had been at the
same rally, recognized it as a coin that had been on sale by a coin dealer.

I didn't really worry me, but I couldn't see the point in doing it.

Sure, it happens. It's had to have. But, not from me, and hopefully not from too many. Kills the fun IMO.

Sometimes, "too good to be true" hunts CAN in fact happen, though very rare. However, if they post gold coins daily, then yes something is up.

Well......

A detecting buddy of mine posted his finds on here a few years ago and was chased off by a few that called him a liar. This guy doesn't have to lie because he is the best minelab user out there and I have been with him on numerous occasions when he would pull in 30 plus silver.

He would post and would be called out on it every time so he decided not to post anymore. Too bad, he has some kickin finds and stories to share. Maybe one day he will be back.

I'm taking a guess here but is Your friends initials J. L. If so I would agree that his minelab is grafted to his soul.
