Dutchess County NY

I know, I know. I've tried with gloves, I just really can't stand the loss of feeling/dexterity. It will bite me sooner or later, but I remain stubborn. I found an 1831 large cent here last season, so I can't help but stick to it. I'm hopeful there are more like it under there somewhere.

What I used for a while was latex gloves....There are some that are very tough yet thin enough to not lose much feeling

Anybody watch BBC's comedy series Detectorists? Season 1 is on Netflix, it's pretty entertaining. Season 2 just finished up around Christmas; not sure when that will come to Netflix.

Just wondering how everyone one is doing? I finally got out this past Sunday the 21st. Can you believe detecting in February! My finds were 5 quarters pre 1980s a couple of dimes and a couple of cents. Looking forward to a new season.

Orange County, NY. Not far from woodbury commons (within 10 mins) Im new here and interested in trying to learn the hobby.

Looking for someone with good professional equipment and willing to teach me a little while hunting on my property. Specifically, hand built, stone property boundary walls that I would date at least older than the 1900's (possibly quite older). Deed and title survey leads me to believe early to mid 1800's.

Again - I have the property and the desire to learn the hobby. Would like to work a split for searching my old walls (who knows, maybe even find a foundation too). Also near a stream, virgin ground, and within visual distance of one of Claudius Smiths hideouts. For those that dont who he is, worth a google session.

Quite a fascinating story.

He was hung in the 1700's but people still search for his stache which has never really been found (assuming it still exists out there).

Anyway, if this sounds interesting let me know next step.

Would like to do this with one or two others that have good experience, equipment and dont mind teaching a newbie. Willing to work a fair split if anything is found.

Suggestions and proposals welcome. Be nice - Im a newbie! :-)

PS - this should ideally be done before the summer vegetation sort of takes over. A Lot easier before then but the area that has the stones walls doesnt get sun.

Also I found a lease tapping my stream for water supply for 100 years. It expired in 2012. Not sure how to find the pipe, what the lease ending means, or if it is still in use. It would pump over a mtn into a state park (where there were homes until the 1950's that were condemned when the area was taken by eminent domain and turned into state parkland). There are old stone foundations there and I believe detecting is allowed and digging to 6 inches is also ok as long as filled back in).

Stinger, I saw a post from a few years ago and was wondering if you have ever hit Mt Beacon or Breakneck? I wanted to hit the old Cornish Trail where the old abandoned buildings are, when I come up possibly at the end of March.
