You messed-up!...You should have MADE sure that it was okay to detect there! Not assume that it was common ground! You managed to research the site so why didnt you contact someone from the township or village or the police dept before you decided to benefit yourself!?
People like you WILL ruin this hobby for ALL of us!...Ever wonder why detecting is NOT allowed in so-many places anymore!???:no:

Sorry if I offended anyone by relating what happened to me recently. I will try to not get so angry next time about something like this. I was wrong. I should have had permission.

Anytime I hit a new site.....and it's normally somewhere detecting is allowed.

I take my dog with me for a walk on recon.

We totally check out the site and note how many people are around, we note how how often new people arrive and dissapear. We figure out the best spot to hit and where the best spots to "dissapear" into the background are.

It works really good doing some recon like this because noone really cares when I'm walking my dog.

I pull out a metal detector and the eyes come out like we are doing something totally crazy.

And no...i don't nighthawk (think that is totally messed up) or try to go where I know I'm not suppose to. It was just a general question.

Consider yourself lucky.If you'd have been on federal land your detector and vehicle could have been confiscated,plus jail time,plus fines.:D
I vote delete this thread,as this moron has no ethics or respect for law enforcement whatsoever.
 
I would like to see a moderator squash this knucklehead like a grape. He is either jerking our collective chains on purpose or a real idiot. Crazy like a fox? At any rate, got more responses than any post I ever submitted. If I'm wrong then throw me off. I don't need somebody like this messing with my friends.
 
No "bashing" intended on my part, although I carried no wooden baton, but a steel ASP which would of made the wood feel like a kiss.

Just learn from your mistake. Everyone on here has made them as well.

The same thing happened to me recently. I was water hunting a fountain in the middle of the mall and up come some rent a cops on segways. I didn't ask permission to be there but I thought it was ok. I didn't know it was a private fountain. So I took off running as well. Well I got run over by a segway and brought in for interrogation. They called the local cops which came over and confiscated about $20 in change from me and arrested me saying I was destroying the wishes of the community by taking the change they threw into the fountain while making a wish. The cop that arrested me was very i-rate saying he was one of the wishers and I stole his wish without permission. Who knew.....;)

I have to say this, I'm a big fan of History.:) Did you know that Thomas Edison actually unveiled his phonograph for the first time to the public at the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island?
