Basically dog's are territorial in most cases , so if your in, the profession Mail Man, Fedex Man, UPS man which i was , Meter reading man , and the list goes on, from time to time, you can run into a aggressive dog, in a 9 year package car span, i was never bit , were i used to live the owner up the street had her pit bull turn on her , and bit her arm up, I had 2 Rottweiler's father , and son, very territorial both died at 11 years old, not pointing breed's out here, because just because they are a Pit,Rott, Dob, ect., doesn;t mean they all react the same, it has a lot to do with the Owner raising the pet, him training the pet, if the owner is in control at the time you greet the pet, if you know the pet, it also has a lot to do with you correcting your pet, when he is wrong, CBR's are stubborn, but very smart , and loyal dog's, by far the best dog i have had in my life, he is about 120 lbs solid muscle, with a keen nose, and hearing, but loves people and kids big -small, I take him Metal Detecting, not for protection, however he let's me know if anyone is approaching within a 60 yards, with headphones on detecting 4 eyes are better than 2 while detecting, during the dogs off beach time , he won't get to go
, Shogun enjoy's the beach, he was swimming all winter in the ocean here, I take him in Lowes , and BJS down here , everyone loves him, i am still training him on greeting other dog's, after a large breed poodle sniffed than got aggressive to him , she was a female , must have been her time of the month
, but ever since he has been Leary to other dog's, Cats forget it, if a Cat is in his territory he will chase the cat off property, were i used to live, my neighbors cat kept coming on my property , i had a fenced in yard, i warned my neighbor several times, than one night i let Shogun out herd the fight happen while i was getting a drink, one neighbor said Shogun was shaking the cat like a rag doll, my neighbor finally listened to me , as her cat was bleeding two weeks from the a--, she said she won't be letting her cat go out anymore , that's one issue that a lot of cat owner's won't do, is keep there cat's at bay, i had several cats running my old street, and Shogun had a battle just keeping them out of my yard, as the Neighbor had 4 cats , some on and off in heat . Understanding dog's , has a lot to do with it , yes protecting yourself is the upmost importance when , or if it ever happen's, but over reacting as to Stab, shoot, mane , a dog is not in my book. Pepper spray for all those guy's that battle this subject all the time , with your shovel keeping them back while spraying is all that's needed, it's the Owner's fault, that this happen's, don't take it out on the dog !!! Happy safe Hunting , Earl A pick added , at the Old house .
