Do you carry a weapon?

I'm a quite, passive person myself, but openyl carrying a weapon just seems to keep away the baddies. In VA, no reason to conceal, open carry state *evil*

Being in California we have extremely hard gun laws, plus I live in a rich area where the average house price, for a NON fixer upper is around $700,000, so not too many bad guys unless I go to Salinas, which is a scary area at night, I would not be caught dead there at night, because you can't catch a corpse, you can only trip over them.

Yeah, I know all about Cali's gun laws... #1 reason I refuse to relocate there ever for any job. You guys are like your own separate country with regards to gun laws as well as many other things.

lol I wouldn't have it any other way though!, I feel that if I were to move to another state it would start to feel alien. But oh well what can you do, maybe Ill carry a pocket knife if I were to go to the Abandoned building area, though i am sure it is safe enough.

I agree with you totally on that one! It's great to read that others do too. Sometimes detecting takes you places you'd rather not be caught alone. The last place I went to where I got stung has been known to have shady homeless people hanging out. Just dont want to chance it.

I carry a keltec p9 that is very small and fits in a wallet holster. No reason to carry my Glock 23.

My new carry gun

Ruger Sp101 W/2 1/2" Bbl Stainless Steel 357 Magnum...lots Of Power In A Small Package!! Plus You Can Fire 38 Spl. Rounds In It Too...easy On The Hand For Target Shooting!! It's Not Too Bad With Full Power 357's....but Has A Loud Bark!!

I have a carry permit and as other permit carriers are probably aware.... you should carry all the time.
The reason we carry is to be prepared in case something happens. When MD'ing, something COULD happen.
If your'e out in a desolate field, you never know...
Hopefully won't, probably won't, but just in case....
Some people think that we are just paranoid. I would say just extra careful.
I carry either a Beretta PX4 or my girlfriends Kahr P9 (much lighter and thinner).

I call it the Boy Scout mentality despite never being in the Boy Scouts. Be Prepared! Those that think we are paranoid are generally those who don't go into the woods or expect the unexpected. I've come across wild hogs in the woods once, thankfully I caught them by surprise and they ran away. G/f's father wasn't so lucky and had to climb up a tree to escape!

nice to see im not the only one with the Boy Scout mentality.you never know what can happen out there. just last year there where 2 teen age boys walking a wood line on there way to go hunting when a man jumped out of the woods with a knife and came after the boys, even tho the boys had guns the man was able to close the distance so fast he stabbed and killed one and wounded the other when the young man was interviewed he said the man was so quick they never had a chance to get a shot at him,he said there was nothing they did to cause the attack. the man was found 2 days later and the police said he was a homeless man who is a suspect in 2 other homicides. a few years ago i was approached by 2 men while out fishing they seemed friendly at first then asked me if they could have $20 when i said i didnt have $20 they asked to prove it by showing them my bill fold when i refused he said there was 2 of them and only one of me and it wouldnt be to hard to take it from me,i was scared to no end no doubt but lifted the tail of my shirt over the holster of my .44 they backed off and said they where only messin with me. no tellin what coulda happened if i wasnt carrying.

Again, as I mentioned a couple of posts ago... you never know.
Even now, I sometimes question carrying, thinking 'I'm just going to the store or it's too hot, etc...'
But then I hear of your story or just turn on the news and it reaffirms my justification for carrying.
I used to think - "that won't happen to me" or "have never had a real problem in 53 years..." and I hope I never do, but when you hear or see what COULD happen to you, even a block from your house (even in affluent neighborhoods), you will want to be prepared.
When people ask me why I carry, I tell them two things:
1) do you own a fire extinquisher... same thing. Just being prepared in case.
2) A cop is too heavy to carry.

"2) A cop is too heavy to carry.

thats a good one there!:lol::lol:

Great post chase... and everyone about being a "boy scout." In the back of my truck in the bed ox I carry everything from hand cuffs and a 14" bowie knife to bottled water, zip ties, etc... YOU JUST NEVER KNOW!

This is my everyday carry weapon. It's a Kel-Tec P11, they claim it to be the lightest 9mm in production. With the hollow point rounds I carry in it, I have no doubt it is a problem solver. Looks like tabdog has the same thing in all black, bet he likes his as much as I do mine!

Several years ago, a guy took his wife to the airport in Birmingham and decided to use his metal detector at a local school yard before heading home. He was robbed and shot by a thug for no reason. He never recovered from the gun shot and died a couple of years later.

I have a carry permit and my buddy is with me everywhere I go. In over 35 years I've pulled it one time. I wish I had my camera with me that day, the look on the thugs face when I pointed it between his eyes was priceless. I think he messed his pants as he turned to run away:grin:

My carry weapon of choice is a Ruger LCP. Very light. It's only a .380 but using Ranger Talon bullets there's plenty of stopping power.
Many businesses have the silly "gun free zone" signs.
I own a restaurant and here's the sign on my front door.
