Wow, that is truly awesome! The cuts for the serration are incredible and appear to be so evenly spaced. Did you program a machine to to this, because I can't imaginge trying to do it manually.

Personally, I'd have to spend lots of time making tools and then set them up to try to do the actual cuts and that would still be tedious. Wow!

Can you go over the actual process you went through? Perhaps some of us can use the insight to improve our own stuff.

I want one, and I want one Soon...Please for the love of GOD and all things HOLY!!! I think the 13" is too much unless you are making a scythe blade or machete to clear brush before detecting...lol But I would pay near $75-$100 if you gave it some kind of warranty It looks completely Awesome and I could totally move some for you. PM me if you want to talk

Don't think this will help anyone but here goes.At least you guy will understand the process and lenght of time it takes to make a precision digger.

1. Designing 4-5 hours also had designed a handle (Pic)
2. Cutiing blade out of solid block (pic) 4 hours timed
3. Grinding square and blade thickness but not to size. 1-1/2 hours
4. Set up and square in vise. This is a pain as you are holding a 6"-7 part by
an 1/8 inch. 1hour
5. Cut the serrations 3 hours 52 min. It was timed.
5. Carbide drill sm hole and recess for magnet. 1 hour
6. Milling the blood groove or pocket on top of blade 2 hours as i broke a
couple carbide end mills until i got it right 60 rockwell (Hardness)i s no
joke.
7. Back to design in order to keep the blade looking some what symetrical.
Due to the Blade having a thick saw tooth edge on one side and a straight
edge on the other also the pocket came into play here all 4 angles on the
blade are different. 2 hours
8. Grinding Angles and staggering the teeth also blade thickness to size.
3-5 hours Had to grind slow so not burn the teeth also was holding buy
very little and did not want the grinding wheel to grab the blade and send
it flying.Ruining the blade.
9. Turning the handle on a lathe ,drilling out excess metal for weight
porposes and drilling and tapping 1/2-13 on the end of the handle.
2-3 hours
10. Prep and weld 1 hour
11. Belt sanding the curved edge of the blade was done by hand I dont
remember how long it took but it seemed like forever.
12. Finally sharpening with a course then fine grit stone.

As you can see it was not easy.

The handle was for the original but the blade was not perfect so decide to wait for the right blade it will look more like a hunting knife.

The blade in the picks is the sister with my style teeth on the curve edge only smaller. what do you thnk?

O.K. Uncle Tykie,

I do know, i have enough material to make 8 long 6"-7"x 2"wide and 8 short 4 7/8"-5" X 1 1/2-2" wide

I will get back with: The Good, The Bad and The UGLY!! on monday.

Happy huntings

Holy Moley!

WOW! I imagine that is just about the best thing I have seen for dirt recovery! You could definately make some bucks with that design! Again, WOW!

Them diggers look awesome real craftmanship. I would also like to buy one.
But with the amount of time invested you will have to charge at least $ 150.00
unless you like to work for $ 5.00 per hour
I would still be interested though depending on the durability
from the looks of them they should last a couple of lifetimes

funny i just read this post as i got home from work where i stayed late to recut the serations on my buddies true temper digger with the wire edm and saw your blade might try those serations on one side of my digger they look badass :P
