Carlsbad Attack!

Those attacking Mud need to get a grip. I'm sorry but if you don't know his posting style, maybe just step away from your keyboard before going ballistic and making yourself look like a thin skinned snowflake. My god, some of the responses in here are absurd. We are adults here. If a little sarcasm on the internet gets you that upset, you need to grow some thicker skin or dont read.

Sooo if the victim were Craig or OBN (or ANY member here) I should laugh it off and convince myself "they had it coming"? I should make jokes about the way they look, their age or that they wore high top socks and THAT justifies them having their scoop taken away from them and beaten over the head with it?
Are my comments here absurd to you Swinglo? Am I a thin skinned snowflake for not recognizing the "sarcasm" in Muds posting style?

I think YOU need to check YOURSELF and stop trying to defend Muds posts. What happened to this guy was Felony Assault & Battery punishable by 1-25 years in prison! I see NOTHING funny about this.

Wow I really feel bad for the guy but at least he didn't get hurt too bad or loose his gear. That being said he will definitely be more aware of his surroundings and keep an eye out for anyone around. I am guilty of getting into the zone as well and was approached by 2 guys that looked like they wanted to rob me, as soon as they came up I brandished my Lesche and they both walked around me deciding it wasn't worth the effort.

Its sad this day and age you have to watch your back but thats the way it is. One person takes a swing at me on the beach and they will be hit so hard with a scoop they will look like swiss cheese from the holes in my scoop

<Deleted>!t. Just because you have a high post count on every metal detecting forum on the internet doesn't qualify you for anything other than the tired finger award. Maybe mud would have more respect for his posting style if he actually detected rather than writing <Deleted>responses about a guy getting beat up. Other than metal detecting his wife's purse I'm not sure how much he actually detects if all he does is post here and on the other sites. He's a keyboard cowboy, nothing more.

<Note from Admin: Kindly leave expletives out of your posts, even if mispelled to get past our automatic word checker>

George.. There are more than adults here.. there are children as young as 11 that we know of... there are children who read over their parents shoulders.. some posts have crossed a line we will not tolerate... this issue hopefully has been resolved through private messages...

i have seen this guy before
who beat the guy ..
he has set up camp on the beach not far from the attack spot..
he looked at me as i swung by there ..
i saw him last night as a matter of fact..
sitting on beach around a bunch of empty beer cans..

Give him what he's got coming!

I'm so glad there are still bystanders who will intervene instead of just taking pictures. If a person is physically incapable of helping, a picture is great help. We have a bunch of homeless crazies here. They just shutdown a camp with over a hundred living in the woods. The property owner didn't care. he had let people stay there for over 30 years. The city ran them out and was planning on billing him to clean up the site and raise the ground and remove underbrush so the homeless couldn't hide there. The court blocked the city from charging him but not because it's his property and he can do what he wants with it, but because the city accidentally dumped fill on the wrong property 20 years ago. They were supposed to clean it up at the time but it was never done.
Every church and charity showed up to help and about a dozen took them up on getting help but the vast majority just moved to one of the dozens of camps along railroad tracks and creeks.

Yep, ^ this,,,,Yes I'm glad the guy wasn't seriously hurt, but in this day and time you've got to be prepared and aware. Thats why he was attacked , he wasn't prepared. If he'd have held that scoop like a ball bat, or an M 14 , that bum would've never left the bench. But , this seems to be acceptable behavior in Cali. Lot of backwards court cases , and payouts going on over there. I mean , 71 years old , you'd think he's seen this country make some bad turns in his years, like homeless people, drug addicted bums looking for the next fix at your expense. And yes those bath salt tweekers, meth heads , it's not the same country it was 40 years ago. And with all due respect, if that old guy hasn't realized this by now, he's had his face buried in the sand for to long. Time to look up. A little humor never hurt no one , I've been the butt of quite a few jokes , but it's helped me grow. I appreciate a good joke , even if it's on me. It's a good thing our WWII Veterans weren't thinned skin like a good bit of our country is today.

Plato and his little buddy Aristotle talked a lot about comedy and tragedy. They have been linked together since time began. There is something to be said about "too soon".

I'm having a rough time dealing with Mom's Alzheimers the best advise i got from my sister was "If you can't laugh all you can do is cry". It's not right that an old man can't be safe in public, but I bet the old man will have a joke about it soon and it will probably be funnier than mud's failed attempt.

I feel like taking a little trip down there with my stealth and showing him what's up.

so so sad but i have also been threatened by crazys on the sand late night, approached by what i could only describe as gang members, barking scary Dogs and Homeless, now I carry mace because of it, but yeah it happens and thats why its good to go with a friend, I'm 6'4" 220 lbs so i dont worry as much but i do keep my head on a swivel when night detecting and hunting in bad areas or around homeless camps
