So it's a sad day. I got my AT Pro out for my kids to use while visiting for Christmas and discovered that it has bit the dust. I used it early this summer at a local lake beach in the water and I discovered right after the hunt that it leaked a small amount of water so I took it apart and thoroughly dried it out . It seemed to be ok after a week or so of drying out I reassembled it and everything appeared to be working fine. I've gotten it out a couple of times and everything seemed good. I got it out for us to use and it comes on but everything on the screen is faint and sometimes it seems to work and sometimes not at all. I put in fresh new batteries and no difference so I guess it's done for. I bought a new equinox 900 when they came out so I'm good to hunt but now I don't have a back up and nothing for guests to use. I can either sell it for parts and sell the DD coil I bought as well as the water headphones and then buy a different cheaper machine for backup as I'm pretty sure having this one repaired would be a bit cost prohibitive don't know kinda on the fence. Has anyone had an at pro refurbished and what did it cost? Seems there are a few decent choices in the 3-400 range new. Was kinda hoping to let the funds build back up and get a manticore or a deus II for the second machine but that might be quite awhile down the road now . Ideas?

One thing I would try before throwing in the towel. Take a pencil with a good eraser and scrub the battery contacts in the machine. You're dealing with low voltage, and it doesn't take much of a film or corrosion to impede operation. The rubber is just abrasive enough to clean the contact surfaces and may just do the trick. Good luck.

First off the bat, Garret has the best customer service in the world hands down. If you call them they will probably ask to have the head shipped to them to be looked at. Whatever the issue is, they will fix it for very little cost and it will be as good or better that new. I've dealt with Garret a few times and never had anything but a good experience with them.

I had a dead unit repaired, I think it was $60 total and that including a new control unit. That was some years back though, I have to send mine in again and they quoted me a flat rate of about the same, so give them a call and see. Anything under $100 would be well worth it.

I know a guy whose father passed and left him a Pro and a Max. He was selling both for $250 each.
I bought the Max as I already had the Pro. Excellent, excellenot condition
If you want, I can see if he still has it.

I tore it back down tonight and found nothing that looked like it would be an issue . I did clean the battery contacts but they were already clean. Pretty much didn't find anything so I'll get with Garrett and make plans to send it in or at least see what the cost may be. Hopefully it can get repaired without costing as much as a replacement of some sort. The original headphones quit a year or so ago and they replaced them but the replacements didn't last long so I guess I'll have them figure that out as well could be the headphones are good and the issue was in the machine itself but I'll have that addressed as well. I hardly ever use this machine mainly for my daughter to use when they come for a visit a couple times a year and I usually take it with me as a spare incase my battery runs down on my 900 which is rare it usually outlasts me lol.

Tried calling today and they were still closed for Christmas but supposed to open tomorrow so I'll give them a call and start the process. Thinking about having it repaired and selling it and the accessories to build up a fund for either a Deus II or maybe a manticore . Don't tell my wife lol

If you are interested in selling the stock coil I would be very much interested, if of course the price is right. I'm down the stock and the smaller one. Have no idea why these ears keep breaking as I wasn't detecting much and when finally get get out...snap!

I'll see how this turns out. if it gets repaired I'd definitely sell the stock coil since I almost never used it after I bought the 8"DD

Well I got ahold of Garrett and It's on it's way back to it's birthplace in Garland Tx. They'll call me with an estimate. 40$ to inspect and ship back + parts so guess we'll see.

Mine is also headed there to have the "shell" replaced as it is cracked by were you put the batteries. Just to let you I am in the process of reinforcing my coils, so I may not need to purchase yours if in fact you do sell it. I'm hoping I'll end up with 4 "good" ones again.
